Lightbulb Metal-Metal Clang with Stock LC Shocks in rear?

I've got LC9 wraps and OEM LC shocks. They look and feel great, but when I go over small bumps or have kind of vibration (highway bumps, etc) there is a metal-on-metal "clang". If the truck just sits I can go back and grab the shock and shake and I can hear it. So it's where the upper mounts bolt to the truck. I have the rubber bushings on top and bottom, and washer on top of that, and the nut is as tight as I can get it.

I even tried oil filter and strap wrenches to get it tighter.

I'm assuming if there was more weight (say of a Land Cruiser) they would be compressed enough against that flat metal wall (on the truck side) that they wouldn't vibrate back and forth.

Anyone experienced this? Or Have any ideas?

I was thinking I could try to wedge something in there to tight it up, but not sure what. Almost like I need a super thin/long rubber bushing to slip around it.

Is there a bushing cup that fits snug into the frame? From the underside? You shouldn't be able to move the shock if that's in place... Are you using the factory cool spring jounce stops? I'm not using them and I get a little noise since the spring is metal-metal up top.

What is this bushing cup you speak of?

I'll see if I can get a picture when I get home. But as far as I recall it's just bottom bushing, frame, top bushing bushing, washer, nut.

Am I missing something?

EDIT: After a google search, it looks like that's exactly what I need. A washer that has curvature to 'seat' into the frame hole.

That's the one... What I'm not sure of is if you need to drill out your frame for that particular shock... If it has a larger bushing and cup... Maybe somebody else can confirm? I believe there is a thread on using these shocks and what it takes to do it

If you're using the black OEM LC shocks, you'll definitely need to drill out the upper shock mount to allow for use of one of those centering washers. I want to say it's a 13/16". BFAD had a detailed thread on using those shocks, so look for that.

Yep I've got the black OEM LC shocks. Thanks I'll search for that thread.

Yep I'm just running with no centering washer in right now.

I remember seeing my stock ones when I was doing the shock job, so I'll see if I can track those down, otherwise I'll hit the dealership and get a couple new ones.

I'd rather that, than take the drill to the body.
