Thanks - question on finding certain info.
Thank you Brian for this. I use and enjoy this site and have used this to change my valve cover gaskets. Unfortunately I have everything back together...well not quite, I have two hoses, and two small wire connectors that I cannot for the life of me find where they connect too! I don't know the appropriate place to look or to post. I have the photos showing them as well.

"Bundling" projects to save time/energy?
This is such a great site for a new 4Runner owner like myself. I'll be using a LOT of this information for the various repairs and upgrades/mods I have planned. First on the list is the W13 brake upgrade and I've already ordered the Power Stop kit. Here's where I need the benefit of your collective experience. Does it make sense to try and work in any other front-end projects while I have the rotors off the vehicle, either because doing so would save time or make completing the other projects easier? I'm thinking about things like ball joints, tie rod ends, misc. bushings, etc., because I was told by the mechanic who did the pre-purchase inspection that all that stuff is ready for a refresh. I'm waiting for my current tires to wear out before I install the lift kit so I can move to a bigger tire size at the same time and not feel like I'm being wasteful discarding the current tires. But I'd tackle just about anything else that makes sense. Once I have my list, I'll come back to this page, look up the appropriate guides, and get to work. I appreciate you guys/gals more than I can say and am looking forward to hearing your ideas.

Do the lower ball joints and lower ball joint bolts as soon as possible if you don't know when they were done last. OEM only is my recommendation.

I've seen some pretty gruesome pics of catastrophic lower ball joint failures, so yeah, I'll definitely put them on the list. Thanks!

@ BrianSD_42
I can see the '00 FSM, but not the '02 and I've requested access to the 02 FSM a couple times now. Who approves those requests?
Also, has anybody combined all the pages into a single, searchable PDF? Going through page by page can be very time consuming

Hi
@ scooubasteve
I am not the owner of the 2002 link / files. I did email the owner of the year 2000 google drive share (since google reveals his info) to ask if he can fix the link for 2002 to make it public again. But this is based on a hunch.
These links were either shared with me, or I copied them from a previous thread or sticky. I do not know the source behind the document for most of what is in this library.

2002 FSM can be found here. Will require google drive access.
p/w = cardiagn.com
Copy all unzipped files into a new folder and navigate via content.htm
Its a series of individual pdf's accessed from that web page.
Someone should copy and upload elsewhere as yota are ruthless in protecting their copyright.

Thanks. Also, I just tried again and the original link for 1996 - 2002 is working now. Maybe it was a momentary fluke. Not sure.

THANK YOU very much. I've been needing this setup with a usable TOC. It seems like it is California specific. My 99 Runner is a Federal emissions kind of guy. This makes the emission stuff different. For example, in this manual the carbon filter is in the stern aft of the fuel tank rather than in the engine space. This has follow on differences in the sensors and how they work. In the fed 99 there is no A/F Ratio sensor, which is sensor 1 bank 1 on the california cars that have two catalytic converters. Page DI 122 Has the Cal info on that sensor, which is different in the Fed truck regulations. On DI 130 the manual does specify that code as related to California regs.
I am only saying this as a heads up to other new bees who are looking for trouble shooting and tuning info. It can be fabulously interesting trying to piece together how to do the right stuff to the right truck based on forum conversations.
I am still no closer to solving my puzzle, but thanks Very VERY much for making the searchable manual available to me. I got it this morning and missed Forged in Fire all day reading and learning about my truck.
If anyone knows of a manual that's customized for Federal compliance please pass it on.
Again thank you very much. I'm sure there's a little relay or sensor or splice waiting for me to puzzle it out.

I just noticed that the factory service manual link is not working. Can this be fixed?

Accessing the Google Drive for FSM?
Hi, trying to download the ZIP file with 96-01 FSM, requested access to the Google Drive but haven't heard anything yet. Is this still available? Is there another link I should be using? Thanks!
