Today I joined the T4R Club

So after a few months of researching, saving, a nice tax return, and searching, I have now have a 1999 SR5 4x4 (auto). 238*** km (148*** miles)

I had another thread about the wisdom of buying a used build and as it turned out, after driving a number of different 3rd generations, the built truck was easily the most solid, well taken care of and in the best shape.

The build includes ARB front bumper and running lights, Budbuild sliders, Blistien shocks/Toyotec (I'm pretty sure) lift (I forget how much. The second picture looks a little taller than it actually is because the slope is a little funny), wheel spacers (again I forget how much), SCS F-5 17x8.5 wheels w/ BFG T/A KO tires (brand new), Bushwacker fender flares, DVD/stereo stuff (going to get rid of the amp/sub. I want to sleep in my truck). I'll have to go over all the paperwork and see what else was done. I know there is more, just don't have it off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure almost I've got almost all service/maintenance records.

Some major maintenance (timing belt/waterpump, etc) have been replaced within the last year. The body is pretty much completely rust free and the frame isn't bad at all.

One of the CV boots needs to be replaced, but he included the part as well as an extra. Rear passenger axle seal is leaking a bit (not terrible) and the front passenger is starting to a bit. E-brake cable is broken (it's an auto so I'm not super worried right now). Shift solenoid code is showing, but still running and shifting very smoothly. Windshield has some cracks. All of these I'll be able to do myself or with the help of my brother (a mechanic).

Because of that stuff, I was able to get the seller to go from $7000 to $6000.

Needless to say, I'm stoked. I'm definitely going to get some better pictures up once the truck is actually in my possession (couldn't get insurance for it today and I'm from out of town, so it's sitting at my brother's place for the next week or so)

Regardless, I'm excited to finally be part of the community!

Nice 4runner. The only 2 big issues are the rear axle leak and shift solenoid code. The rear axle leak is close to a $1000 fix and for the solenoid code, it may be shifting fine, but one of the shift solenoid codes is for the torque converter lock-up. Make sure the torque converter is locking up correctly, because if not, I believe the trans temps on these will spike. Make sure to monitor your trans temps because the light doesn't come on till 300 degrees, and that's already WAY too hot. Anyone else wanna chime in and verify?

Glad you snagged that buggy. For 6000 with all the extras it's well worth it!

If your handy you can replace the rear axel seal (and bearings) yourself and save some coin. Have a look at the break shoes as well, depending on the leak your shoes might be gummed up.

There is a good thread on here on how to fix the seals. Good luck with all the maintenance. It should be fun to get it all up to speed and then you can go out and have fun with it.

Nice truck, sounds like a good buy too. And lingering damage from that front end hit? (Hit isn't a big deal as long as it was fixed properly)
