Rocker panels

Anyone willing to cut rocker panels off a 3rd gen part out and ship?

Mine are shot!

If not, does anyone know the best way to take care of rockers with out filling or where to get rockers so i can purchase them and have them then welded by a local shop?

Wrong section. Look and in the classified section and post up what you're looking to buy there.

Not wrong section! this is the general section so there is NOTHING wrong with posting a thread asking for help. if you notice bud, i, also at the bottom, posted for advice or help on other ideas. Thanks for your lack of support and help, next time don't post at all!

#1. He's right. You'll probably have more of a chance in the finding what you need in the classified section.

You can start by scanning them, and the asking the people that are parting out 3rd Gens is they would be interested in cutting the rockers off and sending them to you.

#2: Attitude is way wrong here, BUD. Makes people not want to help you at all.

#3. Talk to this guy. He may help you.

Thank you for the help! I have seen his write up.

I also understand writing 'bud' is seen as rude. i would rather somebody offer help instead of acting as a moderator is all. i know what the classified section is. i was more or less looking for an idea of past resolutions people have used and my post did not come off that way! apologies to @MStudt .

I've never replaced rocker panels but I did patch them on one of my 4Runners. My concern with your plan is that most of the part out trucks I see are either hit really hard or rust buckets. I would think you might be better off finding a shop that can shape new ones for you rather than cutting them off of another truck and hoping they hold their shape to go back on yours.
Good luck either way though. Curious to see what you come up with and how you make out.

Having replace rocker panels on many many cars, I can tell you it's a pain. But before we go there, let me say

Here is why, I said that.

Are you looking to replace inner and outer rocker panels as an assembly?

Or is it just the outer panels?

Either way, just the amount of time spent drilling out spot welds is tremendous. By replacing the assemblies, which really is a butchered way to do it, you wouldn't have as many. Also, how much of the rocker are we talking about. You do realize the rockers are structural right? Ordinarily when we section a rocker we build fish plates(overlapping sheetmetal) that we fit inside the rocker at the weld seams. In either case, I think you should talk to a "qualified" body shop. You don't just weld them on.

this piece of advice got me somewhere! disappointing, because i realize i have a task ahead of me. the vehicle has 222k with no problems whatsoever. the undercarriage has the typical northern rust, not as bad as some have mentioned about their rigs. i am now in a dilemma, to do or not to do. Come some funds that are truly expendable, then come new rockers. or if i can get my local body shop to do it for around a $k.

Thank you for the insight!

Always good to look at a problem from different angles. The mileage isn't the issue. I'm sure you'll do the right thing in the end.
