Basinrunner's basic build.

Well I had been looking for a 3rd gen 5 speed for almost a year and after letting far too many slip through my fingers I finally got ahold of one from a stealership in February* (I hate dealerships but it was in excellent condition) leather interior with no rips or cracks, 5 speed, 3.4, otherwise stock with no locker (not for too long). I have some friends who actively wheel tacomas, but I've always been an SUV type and like the room and versatility. Besides finding a previously helicoiled spark plug everything was excellent and I'm very happy.

dealership picture

Saying goodbye to my trusty pathfinder that did 50 thousand miles without a single issue even after being hydrolocked, jumped numerous times, taken to the track (18.5 1/4 mile lol), and driven like a 16 year old with something to prove.

Of course took off the running boards and picked up some method standard wheels 17x9 with some duratrac 265/70/17. Also had a friend tint everything 25%.

Then went and made a sleeping platform for the back, still working on a drawer for it but the sliders are $100...

Picked up sliders

Donohue Racing coilovers for $250 got them rebuilt with new shafts for another $250.

Then here we are today, OME 890s, lc tokicos, and the Donohue coilovers.

Done checklist (mostly so I remember myself):
Clear headights
Sway bars taken off
LC shocks
OME 890s
Donohue coilovers
265/70/17
Method Race Wheels Standards
Sleeping Platform
Ultragauge EM plus (so I can make sure I'm still in the 18 second 1/4 mile area)

To Do (plans):
BAMF sliders (awaiting install)
Rock lights (awaiting install)
Drop Panhard (awaiting install)
5.29s with detroit in rear
35 km2s
Addicted front tube
Savage rear bumper with swing out
Front/transfer skid
BLUETOOTH headunit, android compatible (please give suggestions)

Thanks for the read guys, more to come soon...

The pathfinder is going out with a bang! See the gas on the hood! Dude I'm digging this build. What are your plans?

Saving for the gears and detroit right now. 5.29s and then 35 km2s. I'm thinking it will be on 35s before august. Or, I'm hoping. I have some rock lights and led fogs I still have to install.

I have a KENWOOD DPX 500BT in mine along with amps and subs

Kenwood DPX500BT CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

the Bluetooth works well and has USB aux in and all that jazz.

Oh and You can match the colour PERFECTLY to the factory 4runner green interior colour. (pretty much any colour you want)

Here's how she sits as of yesterday (finished lift install yesterday night). Much better than the oem suspension, but not sure if I will keep the sways off, might put the rear one back on.

Bored at work so I thought I would throw up some pictures from previous adventures, right after I bought it I went to King of the Hammers for the first time. Didn't take the 4runner but met some good toyota people there. Honestly had a better time watching people wreck their toys on backdoor than watching the race...

Turkey claw:
@J-money$$$ on claw hammer I believe? Trail had me puckering and it wasn't even in my car...

First wheeling trip to pillsbury, aquired some neat brush scratches from manzanita....

But that was pretty bad ass when that buggy came through... speaking of CVs, looks like I know what I get to do this weekend... got a nice spray art pattern going on from both inner boots. Ideas for replacmeent? Was gonna just buy 2 new, but figured your probably the man to ask. At least if I buy 2 I can make my old ones spares...

Well I have always liked the new napa cv joints. The splines seem to be cut nicer than the rest. I have some re-man cv's from napa/autozone etc. and they are okay too but the splines on the inner cv are really rough.

I have been breaking the actual shaft on the napa cv's . Its happened 2 or 3 times now and it looks like one of current ones is bent .it probably gonna break soon. I think this is kind of a good thing because at least the cv joints are holding up. I have also found that OEM joints break just as easily as the rest.

If you check rock auto you can find new cv joints as cheap as $50. THere are also EMPI brand cvs on there and i have always wanted to try them out. EMPI made the old Trail-Gear dirty 30 birfields and the birfields all-pro sold. I just thought they might be a nice quality cv.
