3rd gen Steering wheel swap
I've been getting mail about my recent steering wheel swap, so I'm gonna give some info.
Upgraded wheel is from a 2000 Lexus ES300. At 1st I only bought the steering wheel and tried to fit my stock Toyota airbag into it. No go! So I went back to get the Lexus airbag. Fit perfect!
This swap is a PNP! The airbag and the horn/cruise control plug bolts right in. The Lexus wheel had 2 extra wires that is used for something, so I removed it because the Toyota only has 4 wires total.
The only thing I did was read some write ups on steps to remove the steering wheel right here on this site.
I hope this helps for the future guys that want to tackle this upgrade. Keeping mind that Camrys, ES300s are the same and can be used as donors.

Looks good. Probably not worth it, but what would be requierd in swapping out the airbag cover so you have the Toyota logo?

Yes tan in color, but the leather is peeled 3/4 of the wheel and missing a part of leather by the top left arm.

I got it $50 for wheel and bag! No joke. Very well worth it. Cheapest stock leather wheel I found was $100 just for the wheel.

Haha sorry for the confusion. I was saying swapping out the Lexus airbag cover for the Toyota one may not be worth it. Wondering the difficulty of doing so.

Both air bags looks same in size and shape. What prevented you installing the toyota airbag into the lexus wheel? Have you tried to swap the internal airbag mounting hardware?
All looks good with one bad logo "lexus"

The bags itself is the same, but the brackets on the bags are different. The brackets are also different on the wheel. The holes are also different. The holes on the Lexus are smaller in width. The Toyota are larger in width. Believe me when I say I tried for 2 hrs. When I got Lexus bag, it took me 15 minutes total for the install.

Did it again now I have a Lexus 04 GX470. This one has controls for the radio and stuff. In the process of waiting for a radio interface module.
