How long till rebooting CV isn't viable?

I have had some torn OEM CV axle boots for like 6 months now. Worth rebooting or just toss them for some new ones? I live in Tucson... its just dusty.

I'm told that if they are not clicking.... they are salvageable. I rebooted mine.... both sides.

I would just check the cv's over good once you got the old boots off. As long as they are still clean you should be good. It's when the grime and sand gets in there is when you can have some problems.

I've got some that I put probably 2,000 miles on before I changed them. They are still sitting in my room with new boot kit on top of the box. Just been too lazy to do it. But it should work just fine for you.

I agree what others have said. Clicking is no good. $60 pop for new axles. Works good for me. That's what I decided to throw in and keep the olds for spares and reboot

Is it the inner or the outer?
I had my inner cracked and spited into two. I drove like that in NV-CA (dusty!) for 2 years and then drove to Louisiana and after an year or so I reboot it. I say sooner the better..

It's the inner, I think that's where most all of them blow if you lift it without a diff drop. Good to know. Thanks! And I'm not going to buy cheap axles. I love modifying my rig, hate fixing it... if I have to do something twice I didn't do it right the first time.
