Steering wheel from newer T4R...

So, my 00' steering wheel leather is looking nasty, tried cleaning several times to the point of nearly damaging the leather. Considering picking up a newer steering wheel from a newer 4R. Question: a)will it fit? b)will the cruise control wiring match up as well as air bag wiring?

Any 96-02 4runner wheel/bag will PNP(plug n play). No modification needed.

You can also used Tacoma wheel/bag 1st gen. Not sure of tacomas started having airbags, but the years are 96-04

You also can used Camry/ES300 wheel/bag combos from 96-01.

All 3 combos are PNP & cannot be mixed/matched.

Here's my 01 Lexus ES300 in my 98 Limited.

I suppose I could just buy a leather steering wheel cover and sew it on...

I was going to do the same as you, but my local junkyard gave me mines for $40 for wheel/bag.

98-02 will work.
96-97 had a different style steering wheel and airbag. It still fits, just need clock spring as well.

Personally, I dont like the idea of getting anything airbag related out of a wreck.

I thought about getting my steering wheel re-wrapped, but I know that it would never be as good as the OEM wrap.
I just ordered this on monday: Toyota 4 Runner 1998-2002 4Runner Steering Wheel Dark Grey Gray Leather | Factory OEM Parts

The price is pretty damn good for a brand new OEM steering wheel outer. Most wheel re-wraps are $50+ and the install would be a pain in the ass in my opinion. I would prefer black but my interior is the grey-blue colour so it will still match ok.

So your saying it still works?

I know there the 2 point wheel, instead of the 4 point like 98-02. Still going to work regardless.

Just clarifying the years that it wouldn't be plug in play. You would require some more parts.
