New 3rd Gen owner and site member.

Hi there everyone,

I have been reading through the site info for the past couple of days and the wealth of information and community spirit surrounding the 4runner (surf in my country - NZ) is amazing!

I purchased my new 4runner/Surf last week - I am starting with preventative maintenance - greasing, lube changes etc. so I know where I'm at with things, and go from there.

Surf is a KZN185 with a 3.0 Turbo Diesel 1KZ-TE, 165,000km (102,500 miles), with the auto box. So far I'm extremely happy with my new ride!

I have a quick question - 4-Ripcord mentioned in his extremely awesome buyer's guide that you can reset the EFI relay - does this apply to the diesel engines too? I have done some digging but I cannot find any other info.

Edit: Being an import it has the factory field monitor that I have seen people retrofitting on these forums too!

Here's a pic:

Yeah she runs beautifully, plenty of power. Just ordered an EGT sensor and small digital display - I have a friend that is going to help me fabricate a better dump pipe for it.

Here's the product link: http://www.auberins.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=231

I didn't realise you couldn't get them at all - but hey - it looks like you get V8's, that's awesome.

Lots of very jealous people over here. I looked at converting mine to diesel when the engine quit, but it just would have been too much money.

Sweet ride.

Will post some more when I'm back home - just out at the old man's shed doing a grease job as I'm assuming the previous owners didn't!

Thanks red-runner - it's a shame they are so expensive over there - the 1kz is pretty common here in NZ.

I was checking some of your pics earlier as I was trawling through the forum - love what you've done with yours!

More pics to come...

As requested sir, some more exterior shots, and some quick interior and engine bay snaps I took in the shed this evening...

The Toyota Field Monitor - check the low barometric pressure, we're in the storm here at the moment.

The Clarion head unit changes colours, it's very odd but it sounds great - AUX in, minidisk and CD player, door tweeters and front/rear door mids.

Engine bay - please excuse the sand, it's wash time tomorrow - didn't realise it had come up into the engine bay like that until after had I washed it... Any tips on stopping this? Does not seem like a good thing!
