temps, air intake, and coolant temps on a stock runner
so im curious as to what those of you who have a stock 4runner (3.4l) are getting for coolant temps around town, and on the open road, and same with the air intake -this can be seen with a scanguage II.
i guess if you have 35s i might be interested as well, just for comparisons sake... im trying to see how my rig is running compared to others. i have no reason to believe that i have an issue, although after installing my dual electric fans i seam to be running a little hotter than id like, and im not sure how to fix that, other than installing some RunCool hood louvers to help let some of the head out...

Air intake temp can vary quite a bit due to ambient conditions. Coolant temp is consistently around 85C with some minor variations. If the thermostat is installed incorrectly such that the jiggle valve is in the 12 o clock position rather than the 6 o clock position, expect temperatures ~10 C higher.

temps, air intake, and coolant temps on a stock runner
So your looking for completely stock 4runner temps? I'll check while I'm out and about today. I can really only see the coolant temp and air intake temp through the torque app though.
Rereading your post, I guess that's what you'd really need. Lol.

did you remove your fan shroud? I'd be almost positive that's your issue if you no longer have it on. I saw you went to a dual electric setup, so I'm assuming the factory shroud no longer fits.

Air intake on 85 degree day with 80% humidity is 100-110, with just the 4" hole in the intake.
Coolant: 188-193F.
No bigger tires, but 2'' lift per se.

temps, air intake, and coolant temps on a stock runner
Air intake down the road topped out at 100.4 but sat about 98 most of the time.
Coolant was about 186-192
You know exactly what I have. Lol. I'll test down the freeway in just a bit. See if that gets a different result.
Edit: driving around a bit more (with a bit more skinny peddle) the air intake hit about 120 but the coolant stayed the same.

Sorry for the late post.... been a while since I was able to get back online. Took my numbers down while cruising 65 mph on the highway at night with A/C on low.
Ambient air temp: 87
Humidity: 75%
Intake temp: 91
Trans temp: 165
Water temp: 191 - 193

99.9 percent of the time I'm at 188 to 191 but most of the time it's pegged at 188. Even running trails or stop & go. I don't bother looking at my intake anymore, it's always hotter, esp w deck plate out.

thanks guys, keep them coming. i am seeing air temps around 100-105* right now today, if it sits and idles at a long light that will climb to like 115 -120, and yeah if i get on the skinny pedal more it climbs with that as well. yes my factory fan shroud is gone, but the flexilite kit comes with a shroud, and once you got those fans to both turn the right direction (someone at flexilite cant read their own wiring schematics) then they really work on pulling that hot air out.
coolant temps for me now that i have a 170* thermostat are around 185-195 on the hwy and around 195 -210 around town -but again this is all with stock gears and 35" tires and full armor.... so i figure that isnt bad for a 5100lb truck with a v6.
im hoping the hool louvers will really decrease temps by letting all that heat escape out of the engine bay

My coolant temps run from 188.4-194.00
Trans temp varies. Usually around 160. Have seen it as high as 184.
I am running the Torque app for Android.

Might be a silly question... but do you have the jiggle valve in the 6 o'clock position? I was running 208-211 all the time until I got a new OEM thermostat and put it in that position. Now back down to the norm of 191.

Around town 195-205
5th gear on freeway 205, drop to 4th gear 198
All in all I'd say I average 195
Above temps are valid with AC full blast and during winter with heater on.
I've always been worried I run too hot, but only once or twice in three years of ownership have I hit 210.
Today I sat at idle with AC on full blast for about 10-15 minutes and stayed right around 200

I had a OEM thermostat but the jiggle valve was at the 12 position. But that was a 190 thermostat.
