Hey D!

Great mods. I got the same color only mine is a 2wd. May have to get together and go for a ride as long as 4wd isn't necessary.

Slowly working my mods.
Got my wheels, need some $$$ for tires.
Got my bilsteins and OME coils, so my "lift" is done.

What would you charge for a plug/emblem to fit in the grill?

well it didnt turn out the exact way i wanted, i ended up messing up the chrome and it bubbled up, but I was able to fill it and get the same contour with the piece that I plugged the old hole with. ideally I would just use a non chromed grille and then just bondo the piece in, but it is what it is. I just painted it black for now as i dont have any paint that is close enough to dorado gold.

and yeah we should meet up, infact i was thinking about doing something this weekend if you or anyone else is interested.

im still waiting to save up for my struts and shocks, I got this stupid photo radar ticket, the light turned just when i was a foot away from the intersection and i wasnt paying attention, because the guy in front of me didnt even know that the light had turned green and finally went at the last second after i beeped him. so yeah thats where my 300 dollars for the rest of the lift went.

btw mine is stock with the exception of larger tires, but they are the stock size if you have a 16" rim. and you would be amazed at what this truck can do stock, ive never even taken the sway bar links off and this thing can still articulate like a mofo.

I got the Lift all done last wednesday, Havent had time to post up pics but I updated the first post and ill put the other pics here.
Before Lift:

New Vs old rear coils:

All done Except an Alignment:

I havent done an alignment yet because I discovered my upper link was missing a bushing, Also I ended up putting in new steering rack bushings, it was a ***** because I didnt have the right tools to press in the new bushings, I had to use the bottle jack and a tow strap to press them all in. Way tighter steering now, but Id like to take it to the next step and do a couple tack welds on the slip joint.

Oh also I went to a junk yard and pulled out the e brake from an 80 series land cruiser, Im going to do the dual e brake mod and seperate the back two e brakes to basically simulate A-trac, and also the e brake line is maxed out so having two seperate ones will allow me to re route them for more slack and droop on the rear axle. i cant even lift the truck up high enough to max out the droop now with the bottle jack, I have to use the high lift.

So before I did the alignment I replaced the steering rack bushings, and I had to basically make an upper control arm bushing because it had somehow come out and the link was rattling around, I used this rubber tape that sticks to it self when you stretch it, it worked flawlessly, and got rid of the clanking and slop in the rear end. I'm having trouble finding the right bushing so this will have to do for now. Earlier today I got the alignment done and the truck feels great now. The caster is not even close and that's all caused by the lift, the front being lifted affects the actual caster, also because the rear is higher it angles the entire truck by 1.3 degrees so the caster will be negative by 1.3 degrees. So if the back was lifted the same as the front I would have a caster angle of 1.4 degrees

So on my first real off road trail in tucson about a year ago I noticed this terrible rattling coming from the steering, after doing a bit of research I found a thread on ttora where someone tracked the problem down to the slip joint attached to the steering wheel. By grabbing the steering shaft under the dash I found the clicking. Earlier today I took the whole thing apart and did a couple tack welds on the slip joint, I also added a rubber shim into the ball joint in the steering wheel tilt joint. The clicking is gone and the steering is way tighter now, tighter than it was when my dad bought it according to him. On the highway it used to sway back and forth out with the slightest amount of wind, now its like its on rails. I highly recommend checking out this thread if your having slop in your steering and have replaced your rack bushings, it only takes a second to diagnose. I went ahead and added the shim in the ball joint even though it probably was not nesesary, it was hot and I didn't want to spend more time sweating than I needed to if it was still sloppy. Heres the link to the thread on ttorao, the ball joint shim is detailed in post 140 here Clunking steering column/shaft? - Page 5 - TTORA Forum

So my parents went on a trip to sandiego with my grandma, my grandma lives in santa fe and she was going to fly out, but since the ebola scare she wanted me to drive over and get her, so i drove over 1000 miles in 24 hours to get her. Anyways she helped me buy some steel and other stuff for my truck in return for driving. So i got 2 4x4 sheets of 3/16 a36, designed a bumper, cut it out on a waterjet, and got the main part of it tacked together. Just need to design the internals and then itll be done.

How do you like the Scion seats, besides the issues fitting them? Was it worth the trouble?

New bumper looks great! Must be pretty convenient having access to a Waterjet.

Hey another arizona 4runner guy, whats up. Saw the pics of you wheeling and thought that looks like az desert so looking at your sig you are in Scottsdale, im out in east mesa. Only about 15 to 20 minutes from sycamore creek and saguaro lake, some decent off road trails. We should have a 4runner meet sometime and hit some trails. I just need to get my control arm bushing, alignment and tires. Im a mechanic btw so if anyone needs help let me know i have the tools and know how to do just about any repairs or mods.
