Power seats rant

Just had to rant a bit.
My power leather seats on my 97 4runner are lil *****es. Maybe the previous owner was gigantic and blew them out, I dont know.
When I bought it a year ago none of the nobs would stay on the controls. The control stick that adjusts the driver side back rest was broken off. If you slide out of the 4runner from the front driver seat or front passenger seat the lil byatch plastic cover pops off. I dont slide in or out but there have been years of people doing that. So mush so that the control panel deal has broken off. It kinda just floats between the plastic cover and the seat.
Today I was cleaning out my 4runner. Slid the seat forward to vacuum under the seat, then I tried to slide it back to the original position. Wouldn't budge. The motor that moves the seat bottom forward and back fell off. The plastic mount had cracked much like the brittle plastic that holds the control cluster thing-a-ma-jig.
I had to pull the seat out to get a good look at things. Needles to say you can not buy the replacement pieces separate from the the motor or control panel. Soooooooo I zip-tied everything back in place. It works but is a lil slower. Im going to try and find replacement parts at the pick-a-part but Im not counting on any luck there.
I would love to find some manual seats!
Thats all for now.

This is one place where investing in some basic metal working equipment can help a lot. I make tons of brackets for this and that for my car and other purposes. Including fixing a broken recliner, gate motor mounts and all kinds of things. Big vice, drill press, metal chop saw alone can do a lot. Add a small welder and you can do tons more.
