suspension lift - question
I have the toytec suspension lift on my 98 4runner. Currently at about 1.5 inch. As you all know, they can crank in the front to 3, but i am getting confused from talking with so many people as to what exactly it is that i need to do to the back coils to level it out, i want to use the full potential of the 3 inches or at least come to 2.5.
Thanks Fellas.

You can't do anything to the rear coils to level it out, except maybe leave in or remove the isolating bump stops that are inside the rear coils. You have to adjust everything on the front end to level it out. Whatever your rear is set at, only weight bring your ass down, other than that you are matching from the front.

so all i need to do is, remove the wheels and tires, and crank out the red suspension coils up front and from a viewing point it will look level and still be raised?

I'm not sure if I exactly understand your question, but yes...if you crank up the front suspension, you can get it to level. It will still be raised. But, instead of using visual judgement to see if it's level, take actual measurements with a tape measure to make sure...ground to fender. Just beware, I've read numerous posts of people cranking up to full 3" up front and having CV issues...though it's usually when off road. Not sure if you off road much.

i believe i would just have it cranked about .5 maybe a full inch. i want a tiny bit more space, i wanna go to a wider tire, and i think i bit more room will give it more the look i want. And other than the outter banks, i dont take it anywhere off road serious. and of course the whole sizing up to a wider tire is another issue in itself

It doesn't matter if one is going offroading or not. If you lift it and you don't have brand new CV boots, they're going to tear. The boots get used to wearing at a certain angle their whole life. If you lift it over even an inch they will tear. Diff drop kinda helps... sorta... but mostly for max bind angle, not for CV boot memory.

Part of the problem too is that the boots start pulling back toward the diff, often pulling far enough back that the seal isn't tight any more. Plus now the ribs are rubbing each other every revolution, and wearing.
Removing the clamp, stretching them, and reclamping has worked well for several guys here. Or overclamping with another hoseclamp

True you can mitigate the problems, but you still need to take action. My point exactly, that if you lift it you will have to do something about it, no matter how high really.
