Smell gasoline

Hey folks,

My baby smell a little gasoline on the driver side. Is it possible a leak? Or clogged fuel filter? The fuel filter have never been replace or clean I think. And it has 130 000 mile on it.

Thank you

It is a normal issue...most likely your evap vapor canister is starting to leak...and most likely sooner or later there will be a p0446 code to follow.

Mine did that for years and typically goes away once the heat leaves.

I doubt it would be the filter but I would go ahead and change it since it has that many miles, my gas cap broke on mine and I could definently smell it whenever I stopped.

How can you be sure that is a cap?

Borrow a cap from a Toyota/Lexus or have yours tested.

I replaced my gas cap with new from the dealer when trying to fix my p0446, it was only like $20 and some change straight from Toyota, they had it in Stock too. My check ended up being from a tiny disconnected vac line from the evap system but I'm still glad I replaced the cap. One less thing to worry about. I must have blown it off from a pressure washer when cleaning mud out of the engine bay.

Check all your vac lines in the bay, walk around and sniff around the truck with it running in park see if you can locate the source. If not replace the gas cap because it's cheep and may fix it.

Lastly our filler necks are some kind of synthetic vynl rubber or the sort, it may have a crack or tear in it. You will have to pull the protective cover in the wheel well to access it.

Good luck mate.

Also search for the "moo box" or "buzz box".

Thanks bro for your clear comment. I think it's a gas cap. I drive for 10 minute, and stop and go by the gas cap, and it's smell there, and all the smell are from there. I can seem to see some really really small evaporation effect from their also. No CEL yet but I will change it soon and will keep updated here.
