What kills me is the lack of C/D rated tires in that size...
Eta: Top!
Speaking of not paying attention -
What a Coastal Offroad bumper looks like when some sh!t-for-brains crosses traffic in front of you while going 25 mph
Took it like a freakin' champ and definitely saved the vehicle from being totaled out.
All their fault and I am currently tinkering with the bumper to see if it's worth salvaging. Stay tuned...

Ooof - that sucks but could've been a lot worse. I remember your hood-rack-tracks! Yes a C-rated tire would be ideal but I'm kind of giving up on finding a 16" tire in a 33" size when the time comes....

Tire prices are nuts. I just bought four Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws in 285/75/16 for like $230 each. I was lurking this board doing research before buying and seeing old threads with people saying they paid half that or less just 4-5 years ago.
Going on the rig along with new ProComp wheels. Apologies fro poor pic quality. This was taken through the glass at Discount Tire.

16" wheels aren't as common these days - fewer choices. A lot of people go to 17" for this reason

Well, it's about time I stopped lurking (for now).
Here's my '96 Hilux Surf when I bought it almost a year ago, vs. as of a couple weeks ago:

Hi everybody. I’m new here, and I have a problem. I admit it. But it’s a good kinda problem. I have two 4Runners. I need to sell one. Sophie’s choice! I love them both!
I’ve even been closely tracking MPG’s to help me decide. Even going so far as to have each truck weighed at a semi-scale at the Flyin’ J just after filling the tank, and deducting my weight from the result.
The 2000 weighs right at 4000 lbs
The 1999 weighs 3,740
The ‘99 seems to get roughly .8 to 1.5 mpg better. Without lift and 33’s, I’m betting it would be more like 2-3 mpg better.
In my opinion the 2.7 does just about as well as the 3.4, taking into account that it’s 260 pounds lighter than the 2000. The 3.4 is not that powerful. But going up steep highway inclines here in SoCal I do have to rev the 2.7 harder to maintain speed.
The 99 is more fun (truck like), but the 00 is just nicer!
I’m in a conundrum.
2000. 3.4 5 spd manual Rear Diff Locker 135k.
Having the leather redone as we speak. Nice, tight, quiet. Almost Lexus-like ride.
1999. 2.7 4cyl 5 speed manual. 235k. Really nice throughout. Lifted w/33’s. SUPER nice and fun to drive. I’d compare this to a Tacoma in the way it drives (which I REALLY like).

Thats a great color on the Surf! Haven’t seen that before on a JDM unit - even up here in Canada where there are quite a few of them running around.
Curious, do you still have the JDM rain visors?

I'm partial to 99 5-speeds, but the 00 is an almost identical truck and has more preferred equipment. Even though the market is softening, it will probably sell more easily than the 2.7. But yes, tough call.
Keep the one that is more versatile, meaning you would use it more/enjoy it more.
Pics of each?

Thanks! This is actually a rather common color on base here, at least half the ones I've seen are the same color. Black or light blue come in second. I think painting my wheels makes a big difference, though. I still want a set of FN Five Stars, but the painted split-3's do look good, if I may say so.
I still have 3/4 of the JDM rain visors. I was trying to take one off to replace the degraded 3M tape, and it cracked in half. Couldn't stand the asymmetric look, and knowing how hard they are to find replacements, I went with aftermarkets. These are a lot lower-profile, but not nearly as clean looking IMO. They don't quite line up as well as the originals did.

Interesting. Lots of black and light blue over here. I agree on the wheels - looks great! Where are you stationed?
If you'd like to sell 3/4 of those OEM visors, shoot me a PM. Thanks!

When I'm ready to part with them, I'll let you know. I'm stationed at Yokota, so I don't imagine the shipping would be very cheap!
