Simple and beautiful. Part of me wishes I had a stock 3rd gen and just replaced everything with standard replacement parts, like no lift and stuff. Are those sport edition wheels I see on there??

Thanks man! Yeah my intentions are to keep it stock for the most part. Installing a new radiator with the Hayden 699 transmission cooler in addition. Upgrading the front brakes with slotted rotors. You know the good stuff. I like the patina it has on it.

I've tooled on it for a year an a half. Took at least 2 full hauls out of the junk yard to replace all the parts on it. Anything that was better on a donor I pulled off and kept until I had time to replace. She sits pretty complete now.

I was looking to fix a few scratches on it with a color match. Have you found anywhere that makes a good match for this Dorado Gold?

Great call on the new rad and trans cooler. You'll save yourself a bunch of headache down the road by doing so. Probably one of the best mods/upgrades you can add to these things to ensure longevity, of course with regular fluid changes and whatnot.

I actually do not know of any places that make a good color match for the color. My truck was totaled in 2017 and I was able to get the work done by an old friend's friend. The guy did it in his personal garage. It's not perfect but as close to perfect as you could get. I only say that because the driver door and fender that were replaced were the items that were painted, so you can tell I have fresh paint on those pieces compared to the rest of the vehicle with paint fade from over the years.

Yes Sir. Thanks for the feedback. I didn't answer your last question. I believe those are the stock rims on it. The guy is pretty stock all the way around. I replaced shocks with standard KYB's. Timing belt done a few months ago.

Okay on the paint match. I'm originally from Illinois. I rehabed a Jeep YJ and had Born Paint Company - match the paint and put it in a rattle can. It came out amazing. Truly. I was thinking about doing the same thing to this since 95% of the paint is good. Just needs some TLC to really make it whole. I'll have to look for a auto paint supplier around here in Austin to see if they can do the same thing. I would rather talk to someone face to face and have them actually mix it rather than ordering online. Those guys in Peoria (born) really helped me out when I was younger and man that Jeep was a stunner (Medium blue). I've been told by my neighbors I can wash the paint off a car bc I clean my cars so much.... They sound lazy to me... what do they care... It's MINE anyways lol.

Next thing I need to do is get the moon roof working. I think I saw a video where these snake coils freeze up. Looks like quite the job but I'm willing to do it.

Funny, I am now finally in the midst of "sh*t or get off the pot" mode with my '98
I don't know how many more big builds I have left in me,
so I'm trying to do all the fun stuff I never seemed to do in the past!

New knobbies that barely fit

Still debating on the bronze headlights. They're growing on me but every now and then I think about painting them black again...

I feel you brother. I just wish I had a basic, stock 3rd gen that I could freshen everything up to make it like it was brand new from day 1. I think I'd enjoy that. But the other part of me is like nahhhhh I HAVE to mod it some. But those shoes look good on that thing. What size are they?

@JoeT4R I hear ya'! I would give anything to see what this looked like the day it rolled off the assembly line...

The G003's are 285/75/16 w/1.25" spacers - I almost went for the 255s, but these are actually a decently narrow fit.
A little trimming and some lovetaps with the BFH and they're basically rub-free. Trying to keep the CG fairly low for now.

Agreed. That's the same setup I have. You running Spidertrax or something else?

When it's time to do tires again, I think I'm going to opt for 255/85's instead. I do have some rubbing, even with the apacers, but it is minimal. I only notice it when turning the wheel while pulling into/backing into a parking space.

Little mini shoot over at Glendale Community College parking structure yesterday

Just installed the CBI ditch light brackets paired with some BD Squadron Sports, replaced the OEM fog lights with some Diode Dynamics C1 pods, and my ARB awning I took from my Tacoma.

Potato quality still from our shakedown at the local OHV park.
Some minor trimming left, but tires did fantastic at 15 psi

oh - @JoeT4R I missed the question: they are All Pro Hub-Centric spacers.
Not the perfect solution, but holding strong for about a decade!
