Yep. It's a thing. Electric lockers came on some of them up until 2000. That was the last year they did it for the 3rd Gens as far as I have seen.
Google search for "2000 4Runner rear locker", you'll find some info on them out there.

No 2wd 4Runner ever came from the factory with a rear E-locker. However, someone could have swapped one in, at some point.

Now the 2wd Prerunner Tacoma, did have a rear E-locker.

i am not sure if this relates too much but i know 2wd 1st gen tacomas had an option for lockers. so why wouldnt 4runners? just a thought.

Because as I said, Toyota never offered the option on 2wd 4Runners.

Just tossing this out, if these vehicles did exist from the factory, why do we need to do the grey wire mod? Why couldn't it be set up like that from the factory?

Because it's not a thing. They never came with them. And isn't 99 the last year of them?

Epic fail!

First of all - No 2wd 4runners ever came with an e-locker factory installed.

Second of all - This is not even a Limited 4Runner.

I am currently in the process of doing this. So I too shall be known as an "it or thing"

I shall affectionately call it "GoldMember"

Never says "Factory Locker", could just be an ARB installed too.
