how to fix broken driverside door handle??

So I just got back from pet smart and something happened that sounded like broken glass I side my driverside door. At first I thought I shattered my window but then I realized I didn't. I just broke the hell out of something inside my door. But now the handle from the outside won't open the door. The I side one will though.

Has any one else had this issue and know thefix? Either way can some one give me some sort of directions on how to take my door appart to check out what went wrong inside

I have a 99 limited 4wd v6

Sounds like the cable that opens the latch broke. Take off your door panel and see what's going on.

Don't take the door off. Just take of the inside door panel. You will be able to see what is going on once you do. There are a few screws and some clips.

The front passenger side on my '97 did the same thing. Here is a pic, I may have a better one at home. The white plastic piece on the right side snapped. The first time I fixed it, I snapped it back together and thought I had really fixed it, but it was broken and if I pulled too hard on the handle, it would pop back out.

However, I think I have a pic of the more permanent fix I did, which involved a tie wrap and some gaffer's tape. Been holding strong for over a year now.

Here's the pic of the fix that has held for over a year now. A small tie wrap to hold the piece together with the metal bar that makes it all work and the tape is really just to help keep the tie wrap from slipping off if it expands in the heat or something like that. I haven't had to pull the panel since I fixed it, so who know if the tape is still on there.

That's exactly what came off one mine. I didn't think of the tape. I tried the zip tie and it kept sliding off . Right now it's just hooked back up with nothing g extra holding it. If it comes back off I'll do the zip tie and tape. Thanks for the help gents
