1st gen Taco LCA's on 3rd gen T4R?

Just as the title implies, are 1st gen Taco lca's interchangeable with 3rd gen's? I need to do a major tuneup suspension wise on my '98. Lca/uca bushings, lower ball joints, coils, shocks and it probably wouldn't hurt to do the ubj's and tie rods at the same time. I found a seller on TW with some 1st gen Taco lca's, lbj's and outer tie rod ends with around 50k mi on them. I've read that the Taco lbj's and TRE's are a good upgrade anyways, do the lca's follow suit?

have you tried cross referencing part #s? That would be the easiest way to know for sure.

Yes, they're not the same. The parts diagrams on the sites I've been looking at show an incorrect 1st gen Taco lca I'm pretty sure. It looks nothing like any of the lca's I'm seeing on Taco threads. That's when I posted here. In the meantime I've been searching around and the only thing I've found directly related to this question was this quote from a thread on yotatech.

"I believe there were some changes in sway bar mounts on 01-04 Tacomas from 95.5-00, but thats the only difference. They'll all mount up. 96-02 4Runners use the same lca's as tacomas, just with different sway bar mounts as well."

Which leads me to a new question. Will the lca's work if I also acquire a taco sway bar?

It's not worth the trouble. Just get 4runner parts and be done with it. If the mounts for the bar arent the same i doubt it will bolt to the 4runner frame.

Ditch the sway bar anyways...out side of that, I believe they are identical.

Don't bother using Tacoma parts. A few years back it became a me-too trend here to install Taco LBJ's because they "looked" stronger. The end result was decreased turning radius and parts interfering with each other.

Save yourself from the questions and headaches and get 4Runner parts.
