Unfortunately it may be that time
ok so I am contemplating selling my 4runner, and I need some advice on what you guys think I can get for it. It is a 2002 SR5 3.4L V6. I put on a toytec ultimate 3.5" suspension kit, total chaos UCA's, a 1" BL, tacoma front bumper, five star wheels with trail grappler tires 275/85 (tires and rims have maybe 3k miles on them), savage offroad sliders and full set of skid plates. It is extremely clean. I will post pics to follow, but just going off that I wanted to see if someone can give me a rough idea. OH almost forgot, it has 102,000miles, I actually just had the front and rear differential fluids changed, the transfer case fluid change, coolant changed, and all other minor fluids (oil, brake, ect). Has had me as its owner its whole life.

It's a 2002 SR5 with 102,000 in Queens. NADA says trade in value is $5,600 and retail value is $8,800. That's more than I expected.

yeah they hold their value quite well. I just don't know what I should look to get the price up to with all the after market features. I know I wont get nearly as much as I put into it, put I was hoping to get 11k but I have no idea how realistic that sounds for this vehicle.

I'd list it at 9k and see what happens. The trouble with all the aftermarket stuff is that 98% of the buyers out there don't know what it is and are probably just looking for a stock driver. So all that stuff you paid for really means very little to them. In fact, in my experience mods can actually run most buyers off.

Yeah, I'd agree on the $9k listing. 9k and let people talk you down into 8's for a decent price for yourself..
8k and let them talk you down into 7's if you are looking to sell it quicker.
I bought a clean, 1 owner, stock 2001 for 5500 with low-ish miles (not as low as yours though). Factor in a couple more grand for very usable mods, lower mileage, and a seller who cared for the vehicle.. If you find the right kind of people who care about that stuff, you can get it.
I'd say ~8-9K is a solid price tag for that rig in my opinion. Sounds nice.

Remove and sell the upgrades you have done. Mods don't add much value.

There was some surface rust on the under carriage but i spent literally 4 days with a wire wheel, and then sealed the entire undercarriage with por-15 rust sealant. It looks brand new now, out of a show room haha.

I thought about that but its just work I don't feel like doing to make a couple more bucks. The skid plates and sliders wouldnt be hard. but the suspension would be a pain bc i no longer have the old parts.

I think you could get a least 9k. A clean runner in the northeast is rare. Everything is just more expensive around here.

I agree you have a 8500.00 - 9000.00 Runner. You can kinda go on KBB with these but the market for them dictates a higher value.
People that want one, WANT ONE.

If it's well maintained, doesn't ride like tank, doesn't make weird noises. You can get a good price on it! As othera have said, aftermarket parts do not really add value to the car. And in some cases scare buyers of, thinking it was abused or not properly Installes or cut corners on installing it. But a true Toyota guy will respect and understand the value + aftermarket parts. If I was looking for new 4runner and it had aftermarket parts , I'd research them, check the car out and negotiate! It's life what can you do. In the end it's up you as it's your car

I am going to share some good advise I got when I was selling my civic -- to buy a 4runner.
Start high -- $11,000 perhaps -- and work your way down. You can always start high and come down if nobody is calling on it.
The market isn't static and it only takes one guy who "HAS TO HAVE IT NOW!" to sell your rig for more than kbb/nada.

The other half of the equation is how 'motivated' you are to sell. If you have time, post it for a higher price and wait.
Check local Craigslist sales of similar vehicles to see how fast they are moving. It's surprising how much regional variation there can be for vehicles.
Seasonality also comes in to play. As we get closer to winter, the demand (and price) for a 4WD increases. In Utah the difference can be 15-20% difference depending on the time of year.

I agree with this for all the easy to remove parts like the skid and rock sliders. I wouldn't think rock sliders won't have much, to any value to someone looking to buy a truck in the Northeast. Same with the Skid plate. You could probably take the sliders and skid off and sell them on here, make a couple bucks and list the truck at the same price.
