More Fog Light Madness !!

Well I bought these Hella MicroDE fog lights like a year ago, but I didn't get any mounting brackets with them. After buying fog light brackets for 'factory fog lights 2001', I realized the factory ones were for the Stanley lights, and the Hellas were a dealer installed option. Checked some junk yards, checked some lighting dealers online, can't find anywhere. Drew up some brackets and got the dimensions on another thread on here, and got a quote to get them custom fabricated, and it was too expensive and outweighed the cost of a brand new full kit.

So I got to thinking and realized I could just cut and bend a piece of the OEM bracket to mount the lights:
Before:

After cutting with dremel:

Then if you mount the Hella light onto the bracket and put them in the bumper, it looks like this:

So the Hella metal plates have to be cut, and a new hole re-drilled:

Then mounting it lines up nicely with the hole:

Only a single bolt holding them on, but I put a lock washer and some lock tight to make sure it doesn't come lose. Though I put a zip tie around it just in case it comes lose.

Then I got them mounted up, and got a OEM turn signal stock and relay, and plugged them in:

and ......... neither turned on.

So I took the boots off and both were severely corroded (white), and the wires were showing some exposed copper.

So I took them all apart and used vinegar and wire brushes to get all the corossion off:

I put new connectors on the wires, and ordered some brand new PIAA Xtreme White H3 bulbs.

I also picked up some 1/4" tubing and pressed into the breather tube. Then I wrapped plastic bag with some the GF's hair ties around to further keep water and junk out of them:

My god they work! I had to bend the bracket a tad to them to look good, and the adjustment screw to fine tune. Gives a nice low, flat cutoff, ideal for fog obviously.

Thanks all. Better chance you'll see my fiance driving it around Boulder than me!

Decided to relocate my scangauge from the steering column to ash tray spot.

Here it is with the ash tray removed.

And after I dremel'd it out enough to fit snugly:

Then I just used some heavy-duty velcro:

Re-routed the cable, and put everything back in. Fits snugly, and while sitting back in the seat it's good to see. I don't check it THAT often while driving, so I thought this spot would work fine.

And my ash-tray was always slowly edging it's way out from bumpy roads.

Window deflectors

Also, got some Wade window deflectors from the fiance for Christmas.

When first installing them, they do snug-up the window seal, so the motors do work harder. I wasn't too crazy about this at first. But the directions say to roll up and down the windows at least 5 times, then leave them shut for 72 hours. I did these, and now the windows don't seem much more labored than before. I think they will do fine.

The other gift was an 18" Magnaflow. I'll see if I can get that welded on sometime early 2015.

Very nice truck! Gotta love a black 3rd gen. Our's started out as identical twins. Same year, color, and everything. I want to get rid of all the chrome on mine too. So far I got rid of the chrome grille, but still want to do something about the bumpers. Where'd you find the front bumper?

Also, where'd you get the LED reverse lights at? Do they help much?

Let's do it! Do some snow-wheeling? Let me know when it's in, after New Years I should have some time to meet up.

Thanks! I found the front bumper on craigslist from a 2000-limited. Craigslist is always just about getting lucky. Then I sold my old on CL as well. Could always go with Ebay too? Not sure the quality of the front bumpers, but the rear is pretty simple so that's what I went with. My rattle can paint quality isn't as good as the OEM front, but it's not that noticeable.

The LED reverse lights help a little with visibility, but not that much. They mostly just complete the blue-white LED look around the truck. For real visisbility, you would want to install some actual custom reverse lights in bumper, or rear of roof rack or something.
