I'm back every now and then. We'll go out to the desert in December when I'm back for winter break.

Talking about rolling it, you coming over this weekend to help on the roll cage on mine. I got the b pillar ready to bend up last night.
This thread makes me want to do a built thread on my 4runner.

@ 4x4runner2002
Your rig looks much like mine
..except 100x cooler, nice build buddy. Gives me hope for mine's potential as we are rocking the same colour scheme.

Awesome build so far man! I just picked up an '02 Thunder Grey and am looking to go for an expo/overland style rather than rock crawling. Your thread definitely has given me some good examples of the ideas I have. Thanks!

I am interested to see how your runner looks with the CBI rear and the smaller tires... I have been SERIOUSLY considering going back to 265/70/17's. I lost a LOT of seat of the pants power, and the MPG hit was REAL when I switched to the 285/70/17. I was just looking at mine today thinking how long my runner looked with the bumpers and spare tire... The larger tires kinda offset that by giving it some height. Rambling.
I am also interested in the rear suspension setup you have... What are the specs on the shocks? Bumpstops?
What else...
I like your idea of using the 14" 650lb Coils as opposed to running a higher weight rated spring... I REALLY wish I had gone that route, but alas I didn't (still don't) know much and just bought what ICON said would let me keep my ride height without cranking the coilovers so much (their answer was the 700lb 14" Coils)
I look forward to your future updates... Very cool setup you've got.

Thanks for the kind words. Ya mine is built to do what i like. Camping and some speed stuff. I hit the rocks some but not all that much. I recently picked up a trailer that i will be building up when the funds allow and the tent will get put on it as a offroad base camp/expo trailer.

Thanks for checking it out.
Ya these tires are almost worn out and will be replaced with 255/85/16s. so we will really get to see skinny tires and the bumper. My wheels have 3.5 bs to clear the rear shocks so they still stick out plenty and match up with the limited flares.
They are 10" fox smoothies with extra large resis that I found on craigslist. The bumpstops are 4" bilstein 9100s and are about an 1" too long.
I plan on getting the 861 coils real soon because this bumper is going to make me sit lower than I'd like in the rear and the shocks will change accordingly as well as limit straps included.
The coil idea I stole from
@ NateMob
and I'm glad it did because the ride is the same just with less preload.

Thanks for the info! The 9100's seem cool, but may need to try and find a used set or something.
The 861's are a great spring. Even when I load up to go camping, fill my trasharoo with wood, and have the swingout open, there is ZERO sag. They still flex well too.

In case you haven't already, check out the Expedition Overland videos: Expedition Overlands Alaska/Yukon Ep. 1 - YouTube
They have the same setup your talking about with the RTT on the trailer. They are driving a LandCruiser and Tacoma but still a good video series (about 15 episodes I think?) I figure it's probably right up your alley.
