Cool Fuel tank replacement
Hello all, I'm new to the site but have owned a 3rd gen 4Runner for a couple of years now, and I love my truck. Problem I'm having right now is finding an after market fuel tank for a 99 SR5. Can anyone tell me what model years may be interchangeable, for example, I have located a tank made for 92-95 models, are they very much different ???, any help would be greatly appreciated. I phoned Toyota just to see what their price is and it's $2000 to start. After market at approx. $ 200-250.

It is probably a safe bet that only 96-02 will fit. 92-95 are different models and most likely are shaped differently.

The classified here typically have someone parting their 3rd gen. out, that may be worth checking.

I was looking for a tank for mine not too long ago, an OE replacement for around $380 ill look for it again and post the link if I find it.

Not that I can help really, but when I dented my gas tank I bought another used one and the connector and junk on top of the tank were totally different than the one in the truck (even though it was a 3rd gen tank) so I ended up selling it and just fixing mine. Something to keep in mind, not all the 3rd gen tanks are the same.

I think 2001-2002 had an upgrade. Not sure about 2000. The tank and filler neck are different. Look for one 1996-1999 and you should be fine.
