Clean looking rig. Makes me miss summertime for sure. My truck has a good coating of roadsalt and snow right now... and the single digit temps make me long for having the sunroof open!
Did you ever get the SCS wheels you ordered? I know you said they'd be coming in January... I need wheel/tire p0rn!

They are on back-order. I was entered on the waiting list and was told sometime in January IIRC, but I never got word of availability and January has come and gone. So given that, I decided to keep the same wheel I have now, and keep the same 265/75R16. I need new tires badly, and don't want to hurt my mileage, so I'm just going to keep what I have. That said, I like the new BFG KO2's. I'll likely be getting those in 265/75. Who knows how I'll feel in the future, I may change my mind but for now I'm keeping these.

I found some time last night to change the oil (first time changing it on this vehicle) and trim the fender flares that were rubbing. I’ll likely need to do more trimming when I get new tires and tread on there, but we’ll see.
I read on here that the oil filter replacement is a PITA. Allz I can do is laugh. Wahhhh. The filter on my Miata is MUCH worse compared to this. Also, here’s a trick I picked up when changing the filter on a VW Passat I used to own in order to prevent spillage. It worked great to keep the oil off my control arms as you can see...
I figured you non-desert folk would get a kick out of the little helper that showed up. I almost laid on it:

I addressed a P0170 code I have been consistently experiencing for the past month. A new MAF sensor fixed it. It's been several tanks of gas now, and the code has disappeared. Just an FYI for anyone else who experiences this.

I hate to beat up an old thread but seeing the scorpion reminded me of camping in the southern Utah Desert as a kid. My mom was always so mad when my stepdad brought home me, my best friend and a dozens scorpions lol. Identical too, the little amber colored ones, theyre mean!
Nice truck too, I had to reply but I'll skip back and read the rest.

I got some work done over the long break. I finally got around to finishing my intake modification, via the deck plate mod. Also, I noticed that my coolant always ran hot and wanted to do something about it. Even in the (arizona) winter. Typically around 204-210 F. That' too hot. So I rebuilt the cooling system. While I was at it, I also added an external transmission cooler: B&M 70264. I'm running this in series with the new radiator's transmission cooler. Pics or it didn't happen...
Oil change while the skid plates are off
Next, I performed 4 flushes of the cooling system with distilled water. First of the 4 flushes. Fluid looked good.
Goodies!
Here it is mounted with the brackets I made, before I painted them
Meh paint job. I was in a hurry to get my truck back
Finished product:
From bottom-to-top looking up view of my hose routing:
So much OEM
Here are the results.
Before:
After:
You'll note the coolant temps are significantly lower, really stays around 186 for all driving conditions yet tested.
Also, not pictured and for additional information is I used Toyota Red coolant. I did a ~25% coolant to ~75% distilled water. And I topped it off with Redline Water Wetter. All of my vehicles use Water Wetter. All of them.
Pleased to report everything is running better. All OEM parts used (except for external transmission cooler of course). I used continental transmission hose (ordered 25 ft). And as a tip, the jiggle valve was in the 12 o'clock position on the thermostat when I removed the original. I reinstalled a new OEM thermostat with the jiggle valve in the 5-6 o'clock position. Worked great.

Really good, clean work so far. The trans cooler is on my list of things I need to get done. I also like the desert dune runner! Looks just like mine with the sport flares.
