MILKSHAKE SURVIVORS...UNITE !! How many KMs/Miles and Years has it been ?!

Ive realized there is no collective records thread that proves there IS hope! And the many survivors to prove it!

Lets give fellow members who have experienced this or may face it in the future some hope! (understandably within reason of course)

How long has it been since YOU experienced the dreaded milkshake?

KMs/Miles?
Years?

And any other comments related too maybe how its running, issues since...etc...

Mine happened on 8/29/14, and repaired on 8/31/14. New radiator, tranny flush, new tranny filter, new tranny gasket, and engine flush. I've driven it about 4k miles since then, and that includes a trip from St. Louis to Grand Lake CO and back.

I was lucky when it happened. I was about a mile from my house when I felt the first slip. Got home, inspected, found it mixed, and drained it that night. I had it towed to the shop the next morning, and had it back in a couple days. I do have a hard shift from 1st to 2nd, but that's about it. I do expect the transmission to go out someday, but I might be able save it with some good used shift solenoids.

Milkshake: Dec 23rd, 2013

Repaired: Dec 24th, 2013

Around 10,000KM Since... Running strong.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thats right..... Christmas..... Definitely NOT what anyone wants for christmas but thats when it happened. Parked at the parents place, and after coming back out noticed some of the milkshake on the snow just in front of the truck. Pretty certain it happened either just coming in the driveway or upon parking because not 5km earlier we were on a ferry and there was nothing evident (overflow).

Drained Immediately, had a new radiator and fluid installed in no time in the driveway, flushed the engine, cleaned the overflow....etc...

With next to nothing left contamination wise it was taken for several flushes, new gasket, new filter and fresh top up once confirmed clean, with Toyota dex.

Within the month, I went and bought the largest B&M possible (29,000BTU) and installed it bypassing the radiator. Capping off the lower radiator section with the hose (keeping it sealed). And not long after installed a 2way switch on a single digital display to show me the trans temp both in and out.... (paranoid? maybe, but i keep a close eye now on that temp display)

Milkshake in 2011 at about 121,000. Towed and rebuilt. Installed trans cooler and she's at 225,000 and running strong.

MILKSHAKE SURVIVORS...UNITE !! How many KMs/Miles and Years has it been ?!

I believe I have dodge the milkshake too. I purchased our 97 limited a two months ago and the ATF was dark brown. So I've been doing the drain and fill thing every week and today and possibly last drain it looked milky. I've put 4 gallons through it now and it should have been clearing up and it had the odd color. Letting the drain pan sit and then pouring it in the bottle the bottom of the pan had white streaks in it. So the trans cooler I bought last month got installed.

When removing the trans cooler hoses lots of white powder came off with the hoses. It confirmed the rad is the original one.

This all happened today. So time will tell. I will do at least two drain and fills tomorrow while trying to split my last truckload of firewood before rain Monday.
