Haha, good stuff! Just threw a set in my Amazon cart, think I am going to like this little mod!

Hi Everyone,

I haven't had much time to work on the 4runner lately but this weekend was hopefully my last week of working 6 days a week for the year. Anyway, found a little time yesterday to do some tinkering.

After 3 years of having a broken keyless entry remote I finally bought a new shell for $16. Don't know why I didn't do this long ago.

Finished out the LED swap by replacing the light on the shifter.

The thread on the blower fan had me curious, luckily didn't find any surprises in there but still cleaned the dust out of it.

Mounted up the Hella Horn's (still need to finish my wiring harness)

And that is about it. Drove it to work Saturday and had my camera with me so snapped a couple parking garage pics. I should be okay clearance wise whenever I finally lift it but it'll probably be close.

I need to clean my blower fan too. It's been squeaking for too long now.

Glad I stumbled onto this thread. Really clean 4Runner and a nice start!

That's neat you got it back from the thieves too. I bet that feels nice.

Subscribing for future updates. I thought I was the only one who stuck an ozone generator in their car to get smells out ha.

Thanks, I've gone through your build thread a couple times now and am a big fan of your rig! That Ozone generator is no joke, worked amazing.

Thanks! Couple of setbacks this year or it would have already had some suspension and tire changes but oh well. It's been fun cleaning it up. I need to dig out the pictures from when I first picked it up from police impound.

Gorgeous 4Runner. I love how attentive you are with this truck and your attention to detail. I'm the same way.

I noticed your rear wiper slider is a bit worn out (as mine was). You can easily replace this piece for under $20. Here is my post with all of the necessary part numbers listed: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/2804497-post22862.html

By the way, which LEDs did you go with for your conversion? Any hot spot issues?

Side note: That's my favorite generation 3-series. I've always wanted a white four door M3 with those vader seats. Super rare combo, but one can hope right?

Wow, thanks for linking that! I just ordered it. It has been bothering me, just haven't gotten around to looking into it and had no idea it was so cheap!

Here are the links to the LED's I bought. So far I'm super happy with them. No hot spots yet and with a working dimmer switch they aren't overly bright.

Thanks for the compliment on the BMW's. If it wasn't for these two money pits the 4Runner would probably be looking a little cooler by now. But they are pretty sorted and fine as-is while I focus my attention on the 4runner right now.

Here are pics of the other two projects if anyone is curious.

Wow man you really handled all of this well.

I can only imagine how messed up the piece of s*** thieving
scumbag was to do those nutbob, methbilly mods w/ the stereo
and steering wheel. Hope he's face down in a ditch by now.

You're attention to detail is remarkable and that engine bay is
amazing. Well done!

Thanks! That 328i will be a sweet car for your son. They drive great, are easy to work on, relatively cheap, great gas mileage etc.

Thank you! Luckily the guy that stole it got caught and arrested so I suppose it worked out. The idiot had it parked across the street from a police department in a crummy hotel parking lot a couple towns away from where I live. An officer thought it looked sketchy, ran the vin and the rest is history.

I replaced all of the belts when I did the timing belt; now that the weather has gotten colder I developed a LOUD belt squeal. The alternator belt was way too loose.

I pulled off the skid plate to get more access to the tensioner, I took a pic in case anyone has the same problem and isn't intimate with how the tensioner system works.

Also gave it an oil change; I got an OEM filter with my timing belt kit. Always use a new crush washer. Normally I wouldn't document this but it's the first oil of change of 2017 and the first since it got stolen!

Got the rear diff fluid changed today, ran out of time to get the front and transfer case.

Whoever changed it last torqued the drain plug WAY too tight.

Drain plug looked normal, no big chunks of metal or anything.

Redline is always my go to for gear oil.

I used this kit for all of the crush washers.
