I honestly really like driving it. Yeah, they are heavier, but I don't notice much of a decrease in acceleration or any drivability.

It rides stiffer than when it was on stock suspension and tires, I think probably a combination of the lift and harder tire. It feels way more planted with better handling now, also probably a combo of both.

Thanks, that's good to know and makes me feel better about trying that tire size. Looks really nice on the Limited.

I might have missed it in your thread, but what is your effective lift (or better yet, what is the current hub to fender distance?). And did you have to do any massaging to the fenderwell to accommodate the tires?

And what are you doing for the spare tire?

I'll have to get back to you on measurements but I pounded the pinch welds a long time ago, did a 1" body lift, and installed SPC UCA's to give me more caster adjustment. No Rubbing at all.

Great thread, really enjoyed reading it. I like the less-is-more approach you have taken. Super clean, simple, just enough.

Thanks for the info - I might have to try these out on my '97 .

This is such a cool thread. Thanks for sharing all of your work on this. Your 4Runner looks awesome! Sorry for an ignorant question, but do you recall where you bought your shackle mounts? Trying to get some for my '98 so I can add some D-ring shackles, but the mounts don't seem to be easily accessible.

Been a while! No changes other than the alternator I installed in 2017 crapped out and left me stranded at the QFC down the street from my house the other day. Luckily my wife came and rescued me and I was able to limp the 4runner home. Installed a reman'd Denso and so far so good. Probably should have upgraded but whatever, I needed it back on the road sooner than later.

Most recent pics...a couple from some snow wheeling this March and one from this spring I think. No updates or changes really, been working on other car projects.

Can't see it in the pictures but the Steel-It I used on the sliders hasn't held up great, need to re-shoot them. Probably wouldn't use it again. Hope everyone is having a good summer!

Good to hear from you, always good to see another third gen living up to its potential. Great looking truck

I rattle canned my sliders, and just about everything on my truck that can come into contact with objects and need to be refinished. I'll see how much of a pita that is over time

How did you mount the D-rings?

My bad for being lazy. I found a thread with link to:
