For mine, I was on the stock master cylinder after upgrading to Tundra brakes. When I added the Mustang calipers in the rear, the pedal was too soft and had too much travel. That's when I changed out to a larger master cylinder.

If Toyota made the bolt patterns on the axle housings the same, this swap would be so much more feasible. Damn it.

Yes.
I have the Tundra brakes in the front, and all stainless lines and my pedal feels just like it always has with the factory master cylinder. I was expecting to have to upgrade or to put in a proportioning valve but everything is working great and feels just like it always has.

I know when I did the Tundra upgrade it was a little squishy until I upgraded the brake lines to stainless. I also still have my ABS hooked up and it works just fine.

I removed my ABS, so that might have something to do with the pedal feel after the brake upgrades.

I can say from experience that a proportioning valve is mandatory on the factory MC for a rear disk conversion. Without it, the back end comes around scary fast in snow, ice, loose crap.

I run a proportioning valve on mine. I took advantage of a rainy day to get everything dialed in. Went behind some department stores and drove about 30mph, then slammed on the brakes. The goal was to adjust the valve until the front and rear brakes locked up at the same time. As I took power away from the rear, it ended up that the truck would just stop with no wheel lock. It takes a lot to get the brakes to lock now.

I did the 76 Chevy Blazer MC 1 1/8", but didn't care for it. Pedal felt great for your typical braking, but hard stops were too hard on the pedal.

I then bought a new standard 4Runner 1" Aisin MC off RockAuto and the new MC made a huge difference.

A 1 1/16" I think would be the prime spot, but I have yet to do any research.

@midcoma I'm interested in the rear caliper brackets. Do you have any pics you can post, thanks.

I know, Recently I tried to look for an axle for a buddy, but because of the bolt pattern, the axle form the prado wasn't a fit.
