I had 3x sets of these water jet cut last year and have used them on both of my trucks. you just would need to make some spacers. 4mm I think works fine. if you could find some thicker round stock you could just chop off spacers. the spacers are just like thick washers.

bracket V18.dxf - Google Drive

It's a great setup, I have run it around 2x MN winters now and the ABS works just fine in snow/ice. no other mods to the brake system are needed.

the reason why Toyota did that is because the bolts will interfere with the mechanism of the drum brake (drum in disc) used as parking brake.

is that self-adjusting? meaning when you have cargo in the back, it will increase the brake pressure in the rear brakes? and when there's no cargo, the rear brake pressure is reduced

It takes a lot to get the brakes to lock now.

Interesting, so the 4th-gen rear rotors are compatible with the 3rd-gen's e-brake system? No shoe replacements or anything?

yes, the calipers and the rotors are compatible. you need to replace the brake shoes and other parts like the springs, etc. because the 4th gen's shoes are smaller since they're only for parking brake and for emergency brake. the shoes will be using the disc as drum (drum in disc). the cable is the same

The people that have posted in this thread that have done the conversion are using mustang calipers which have an integrated parking brake mechanism in the caliper. Therefore, they aren't using any of the stock drum components for the parking brake or 4th gen 4runner parking brake components. Only the rear rotors from the 4th gen 4Runner are used. The caliper and brake pads are from a mustang. I'm unsure what people have used for the parking brake cables.

Ahh forgot those calipers have integrated parking brakes.

No, it's not self-adjusting. I added a Wilwood proportioning valve at the master cylinder. You set it using a dial and once it's set at a value, it stays there. So the brakes will not self adjust for cargo load.

As Bad Luck said, it's only using the rotor from a 4th Gen. No brake shoes inside the rotor or anything like that. The parking brake on the Mustang caliper is cable actuated.

@midcoma @sleepydad thanks guys for the pics! Keep me updated on those brackets. Sleepydad do you know how much waterjetting cost for a set?

well you see here is the problem with getting thing done. if you want the brackets to cost maybe like $20 each then you will need to have 100 sets of them done. once they setup and run a sheet of the steel it's pretty economical.

however just to run one set of brackets is going to run you $200 at least I would think. unless your friend runs the water jet cutter and can do it on the side for you @ cost or for beer or something like that?

your best bet if you want just one set is to print out the file in sketchup or any other tool that will let you as a parallel projection with no scale so it's 1:1 real life size.

as an example I needed a bracket for the ebrake part of the disc brake setup

PAD tempate (paper aided design)
Disc brakes all around

cut out on the small fry saw
Disc brakes all around

and cleaned up on the scary sander
Disc brakes all around

edit: and I was feeling ok until I just read the news... god dam we are all so focked.

Yep I use PAD as well. You have a nice set up there, all I have is a grinder, drill press, and a 20 ton shop press. So I will try to tackle it with just that stuff. But with what's going on its going onto the simmer burner now. 3/8" plate right? I may acquire the metal so I have something to whittle on if we get locked down any further. Thanks again @sleepydad

3/8 A25 steel is what I used

if you have not already looked thru my build thread you might find some helpful info in it? also might give you some evil ideas?

@2TH4IST Once I get everything dialed in I plan on having about 10 sets laser cut at a local shop. I had the set I run on my 4Runner now cut with water jet and they work fine, but the cut has a slight taper. The laser cutting will be more accurate. I'm debating between 3/8" and 1/2" thickness. Haven't decided for sure yet.
