End of Buying OE Parts from Different Out-of-State Toyota

I hate to be the bearer of bad news and I am hoping what I was told by my regular Toyota parts supplier (dealer in Georgia) is incorrect. I called today for some parts and I was told the "higher ups" in Toyota have stopped the dealers from selling parts out of their region. I have ordered lots and lots of parts from these guys over the years so you can imagine my surprise. As they are a Toyota dealer, all the parts were genuine Toyota. Makes me kinda sick to my stomach to hear this competitive source has been told to "knock it off"....sad day.

If someone has credible evidence to the contrary and knows where I can get genuine OE parts - please let me know!

A couple weeks back when I was looking for the weatherstrips for my doors, I saw where you mentioned that dealer in a post on the subject. I tried to check prices on their website, but it wouldn't let me. Called them, and they told me that they no longer did internet sales - didn't give a reason why - so I ordered them from Camelback. This would suck if true.

Almost all these links from google will sell you genuine parts.

I just went to dealer last night to get upper ball joint. They price matched online lowest price around $37, took 15% off and no shipping. I was very surprised as local is usually marked up really high. I asked for quote online and they emailed me the deal. I printed the invoice and got a Upper Ball Joint for cheaper than anywhere online.

Sounds like your dealer has gotten rid of there Parts Department and are using the "upper management" to CYA. Cover there Ass.

If such is true, then I am in the same boat as Jay. No more Yota for me.

As long as they move parts and still make a profit, then why should they care?

If locals dealers wouldn't jack up prices 200% over MSRP, then I would have no problem using them. But as of now that doesn't happen and bending over and grabbing my ankles is not a practice I want to start anytime soon.

I don't believe it.

There are lots of places that sell OEM .

Camelback Toyota is still up and running.

Call Lagrange Toyota. Tell them David the diesel man sent you. 800 226 2963. Tim or Greg. Greg is always busy. Always overworked. Won't get help, maybe affects bonus or good help hard to find. I get a good walk in price. I have talked to Mcdonough Toyota 770) 212-3801. They have time and price is right online but I want to walk in and pay online price; no shipping and the peons aka management won't do that so I have never bought there. Greg at Lagrange has been there since the 70's so he and Tim are Toyota experts.

I just spent 45 minutes today talking to John at Toyota of Dallas to order some bolts, and I am in tucson. He took the time to look up the part numbers for each and every bolt I needed. He then suggested that I use their website: Toyota Part Sales of Toyota of Dallas they were half the cost of my local dealer even with shipping. I don't believe it for a minute.

That is good to know.

Maybe it is an arbitrary district manager proposal.
