99 tall 4runner front coils with Tundra or Tacoma Bilsteins?

Reading thread after thread but have not come up with a finite conclusion....
What is the best Bilstein 5100 to run with a set of new 1999 tall front coils? The heavier Tundra or lighter duty Tacomas?

I want to get about 1.75 inches of lift for the front and about 2 for the rear which brings me to ANOTHER question:

99 talls in the rear with 2 OME 10mm trim packers for about 1.80 lift or a set of Emu 906's in the rear with nothing?

Looking for a fairly flexy setup so I am trying to stay with a lighter spring rate hence the stock 1999 springs...

I'm probably not helping to find your answer. I ordered the Tundra 5100 adjustable for the front and the 4R5100 rears from wheeleroffroad.com to go with my stock '99 talls. This will go with a 2" body lift from 4crawler.com Nothing serious. I wanted more height and keep the COG as low as I could. Wanted to maintain as much OEM suspension yet somehow improve it. Lot of opinions on suspension setups andd a different setup for every opinion it seems. After a year I found a combination I can live with. If I want to do a suspension lift later on, I need only replace the springs.

I personally have tundra billies. I like the 5 adjustment points you get vs the three with the Tacoma ones. I'm on the third notch right now. If I'm not mistaken you can get more lift from the tundra billies should your heart desire it.

The tundra billies are a 'no problem' fit inside the 99 talls, correct? (24-188265?)

Maybe give this a read:
Running 5100's on stock coils?

My 5100's go in next week (Wheeler Off-road shipped them today), hence my not being much help as far as experience goes. But I purchased them knowing that they will based on feedback from this forum.

I'm running the bilstein 4600s on 99 talls and they are a bit firm on rough roads and around town. I Would go with the Tacoma 5100s and you should be good to go. And as for the rear I have the stock 99s as well and they are super soft and flexy but they don't handle weight well at all,so be prepared for that.

Tundra 5 notch:

Tacoma 3 notch:
I can tell you from experience that you'll see 22.5" hub to fender measurement with the Tacoma 5100's + 99 talls on the middle notch. Never ran them on the other two grooves before I sold them.

I just put on the tundra 5100 bilstines with my 99 tall coils. With a 1 inch body lift I get 22 in from hub to flare on my 2000 SR5. Running the tall coils out back and sit just over 22 inch hub to flare.

I have the Tacoma 5100s with 99 coils. 3dr setting is quite high. I brought mine down to the middle setting, and its still around a 2" lift. I would not suggest lifting beyond the middle setting unless you are prepared to spend a lot of extra money on other parts. I have not run the Tundra 5100s, but the Tacoma's are plenty stiff for me.

All great info! Keep it coming.....

Trying to figure out the raw lift on the 99 talls out front with no other spacers or body lifts with the Tundra AND Tacoma billies on each setting...

So the raw height with 99 tall and the Tacoma 5100 struts on the MIDDLE setting is 2" combined with the tall coil or 2" PLUS the extra 1" the tall 99's give someone?

I am in a 2000 so I need to find out if the that combo will end up being either 2" or 3" overall from my old standard coil setup...

Middle setting put me at 1.75" to 2" from the stock height of my 98 with stock coils. So if you had the same setup as me you would probably be between 2" and 2.25" from your stock 2000 height. That additional height would come from the fact that the 98 sat .25" or so higher than a 2000 stock. So you should net a little more lift than I did

Edit: My educated guess for the three settings for you (if you use 99 coils and Tacoma 5100s) would be this . . .

Bottom setting = 1-1.25" lift

Middle setting = 2-2.25" lift

Top setting = 3-3.25" lift

Again this is considering you have a 2000 with stock suspension.
