2001 4R Fog Light Question

Hi,

I have a 2001 4Runner Limited 4x4 that had it's right front fog/driving lamp (stock) busted up by a big rock. The dealer wants $300 to replace it. What in the world is going on here? Does anyone have any advice on a good aftermarket replacement? I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Mike

That price is whack. I'm sure you can find one cheaper elsewhere. Try a junkyard or somewhere online. Dont bow down to the dealership, they're notorious for ripping you off.

Yeah, there's no way I'm going to pay $300. The only thing bad is the bulb and the plastic white lens.

try contacting burtmanindustries... or go to performance products and see if they have it cheaper.

aside from that, a junkyard may be your best bet.

is it just the bulb or the whole housing?

It's just the bulb and the cracked plastic lens over it.

i guess what im asking is... can you just replace the bulb and have it look OK or does the whole assembly really need to be replaced?

The housing is OK. If I can buy the lens seperately from the housing, then I won't need the housing. And of course I'd need a bulb.

I'll look into aftermarket fog lights and I'll check the junk yard prices.

Fog Lamp

Did anyone install the Fogs from Performance Products listed?
If so, can you tell me if the install had to have any modifications?
The above lights don't look anything like the original for mounting.

Ebay has aftermarket replacements that look like the original, but I'm always leary of those and would just like to hear from someone that has done them without any glitches on hardware or wiring.

ebay fogs

i installed some of the cheap ebay replacements and they fit great and work just as well as the originals did.
i think i paid $90 for each side. the only thing you may need to do is change the bulb if you're after a different color light output.

Talking In the FOG

Great to know for all of us in the Fog out there.

I think I'll try the aftermarkets that copy the original design rather than try and retrofit with something new.

Thanks:
