. Installation of the rear bumper - How did you guys take off that welded 2 hole bracket inside the frame rails? I think I'm going to sawzall and hammer chisel it out. I saw on the other thread torching it out might be a little to much.
|
Actually I left those 2 welded nuts in place on both sides and just used re-used the 4 17mm bolts that were there from the factory. I cut the nut strip in half and slid the back two in with a magnet on each side. I drilled the extra holes on the very end of the frame rails so I have 5 bolts on each side.

. I took the sawzall and the hammer to the brackets. Took about an hour to remove and prep/paint. Will install the bumper today with the whole nut strip.

Has anyone ever done a comparison between this and the Shrockworks? Can you get the 4xInnovations bumper already powder coated? Not trying to hijack the thread, just wondered if anyone knew. I am in the market for armor soon.

No you can't, they don't offer powder coating. Had mine powder coated locally.

Your guys' bumpers are looking great. I love that you all are moving away from the standard black and doing the color match! Thanks for sharing.

Looks really nice E-LOK'D.

We do have 1 and 2 inch body lift options available now for both the front and rears.

Do you see a reason they don't match the finder line with the flare and the end of the bumper? More tire room? Would line up with the flare off?
Thanks

Yep, like Connor said, bigger tire. If I remember right a 35 will fit without trimming the bumper. I think that's what Connor is running. We did line it up with the natural line of the fender flair so it is at least not a random spot out in space.

Thanks for the write up!! Great job! I wish other guys with different rear bumpers would do the same! Hint, hint...lol!!!
Thanks again...

It does take two hands to operate the latch, which is admittedly a bit of a draw back. However I felt it was necessary to have the stronger locking feature over the other hook and loop style latches. I've heard of too many times of those coming unlatched. We had our fair share of issues in the beginning too but that's all been worked out now.

We do offer powder coating now. We finally have a local supplier that has a really nice powder line. The trouble is that it is a whole lot less expensive to ship these bare steel then it is painted, and it is nearly impossible for us to color match. To powder coat, they must ship freight in a custom built crate. If you're willing to find a local powder coat shop to do the job you'll save a fairly chunk of money. We do have prints available for powder coaters to use to quote the job, just send me an email and I'll send them to you.
On the flip side of that, we are VERY picky with the powder work, and our supplier knows what we're looking for; the same you are looking for, a quality paint job!

4xInnovations sends a license plate kit that includes the plate mount, hardware and LED license plate bolts. They aren't the brightest in the world but they keep it legal

Looking pretty hard at pulling the trigger on this rear bumper / tire carrier combo. I had also been looking at the Savage Offroad rear combo, but they have been out of stock for several months now. This has given me time to keep looking at the 4x Innovations option. I am about 90% on going this route over something else now.
The more I look at it, the more I like the latching mechanism, all the options that they offer and the overall look of it. It looks like everyone who has one is still pretty happy with it from what I can tell. I see that they offer a lot of various options. If you were to replace you bumper today, would you pick the same options?
It looks like the light cut outs, and hi-lift cut outs are pretty new options. I have seen what the light cut outs look like, but not the hi-lift cut outs look like.
I see that they offer a 5% sale to forum members. That's cool. If there was a sale coming up, I would jump all over it.
