Hilux Surf climate control = 4runner climate control?

I was wondering if anyone knows if the digital Climate control units are the same and interchangeable between these models?

Im slowly trying to figure out the slight model differences, I'm thinking they would be the same... (this would be good for future surf/4runner owners)

My Climate control is starting to act up so I'm thinking about getting it repaired/ replaced but want to make sure they are interchangeable. So far only difference is the buttons are flipped to the other side compared to the 4runner.

Thanks!

I'd have the stock one repaired. Why spend money on something that is likely to fail on you again?

Yeah that's the plan actually was speaking to the guy who does the repairs.

But it being the middle of winter right now I can't go a week without heat so that's why I was wondering i could swap refurb one in there while I send out mine.

Never got a chance to take it out and look at it yet. Got my car starter and alarm removed instead on my free day.

Anyone know if they are the same harness/ circurity?
If I gotta send it out I gotta wait for a time I won't be using my truck...

Thanks!

Old post, but replying for anyone in the future...

I can confirm that the LHD 4runner climate control unit WORKS in the RHD hilux surf HOWEVER it does not fit in the same bracket (as one side is more recessed then the other). I think I will try and use longer screws and a homemade spacer to sit correct.

I got the new unit for $100 and works flawlessly, later in the future I may consider sending in the original for repair, but for now I am happy to have a fully functional climate control unit!
