ARB bumper mount modding. Anyone spot an issue with this?

I have an ARB bumper currently on my rig. I bought the new Shockworks skid set. Issue is the front radiator skid is not compatible with my ARB bumper mounts.

Here is my issue...

Does anyone see an issue of me cutting off the bottom part of the mount that hangs down? From what I can see it connects with nothing but there has to be a reason why the bean counters at ARB designed it this way.

Some more pictures of the mount...

I'm sure there's a reason for that bend but maybe your questions is better suited to the people who actually made it... However, I can't see any real structural purpose of it. It may be there to act as a skid of some sort. For instance, for me, If I'm climbing a rock ledge and that portion of the bumper comes in contact with a rock it's going to scrape across the bend. If that bend weren't there it would come into contact with the bolts possibly screwing up the threads. That's the only thing I can think of. May or may not be the reason it's there. Honestly, I'd have to look at it on my truck to see if the situation I just gave is even plausible lol.
