Disable Auto Door Lock?

Hi,

I have a 2000 4R Ltd. The auto lock is going haywire. I found the solution is the fuse block but am moving and don't have time to fix it, probably be a couple weeks.

Is there a fuse or a way to disable it? It had kind of "fixed" itself. It was acting weird daily for a month then for the past 2 months it seems it was fine and only occasional weirdness. Now it is starting to do it while I drive and that is annoying.

I'm actually all packed up for the move and can't get to my manual easily and have no clue on how to disable this temporarily.

Thanks,

UteP

Not really is the answer. The 30A Pwr fuse also runs your windows, don't think you want to pull that. You could pull connector 1H at the Body ECU, but I don't know what else would be affected. I think disconnecting lock motors would be the simplest thing, unfortunately. You could cut a few wires at connector 1H, or pull the pins out of the connector, if you have the time.

The auto-lock feature would be one of the first things I would want to disable if my vehicle had that option.

Sorry I couldn't help but 'haywire' and 'weird' are really tough descriptor's to interpret when trying to diagnose a problem.

Haha… yea sorry,

What they are doing is flicking locked and unlocked when you stop and remove the key. The lock does not work and it kind of cycles through for a a few seconds and remains unlocked. When it stops this flickering one can lock the doors manually. Sometimes it is more annoying doing for longer periods and the past couple of days while I was driving.

Oddly…I drive the same route in the early morning and it started doing it at the exact same place.

Ya know I think it may be moisture related. Tends to do it when cold and wet but not warm and dry. I thought this pattern was broken as it has been warm and dry since it got weird again BUT recalled I went to a car wash with high pressure water…probably got in some where.

Hopefully a trip to Tucson will solve this too!

Thanks,

Utep

Not to hijack but I have the door locks that get weaker as the temps go up.... When it is over say about 70, they start getting weak and will not work when it is over 80..
Is there a way to disable them? I see one can turn off the auto lock feature, perhaps there is a way to turn off the locks altogether?
