I would like to keep all of my factory electronics and I am talking to a gentleman names

or something close to that, over on the TDI forum. Just registered over there. I am already 5 speed so it makes sense to keep it that way. I'll be running the 3.4l clutch and flywheel. Www. Car-part.com has been an excellent resource for me to find trans. Parts. Manual injector pump is a must for me and I've found several motors with them! I feel that motor mount fab is probably one of the easier factors in this swap. I was utterly confused when I was on ACME's website unable to find the v6 adapter, but they reassured me that they've got them.
@ absalom
let me know if you want links to all of the V6 builds they have as references, they gave me lists of threads including all of the best work they've seen with their adapters.

I highly recommend sticking with electronic control. M-tdi is a massive step backwards in technology. You lose all the flexibility of electronic tuning, monitoring, etc. You also lose VNT turbo, which IMO is mandatory on offroad vehicles for that low down, instant torque. You lose the phenomenal OEM reliability that the ALH is known for. And finally, you lose 50 state legality by not keeping it factory and losing EGR.
All it takes to retain factory electronics is a simple $50 immobilizer delete. Don't want to wire the rest yourself? Do what I'm doing and have Fast-forward automotive build you a complete, plug n' play, standalone harness.
Mechanical injection is NOT more reliable, but it is less economical, less powerful, and much less flexible. My Land Cruiser was mechanical direct injection, after a year with it, I much preferred interacting with the TDI computer via VCDS.
Finally, the ALH is undoubtedly the best diesel ever produced by VW, if not anyone. It's stupid reliable, has a much better power band than the AHU, and has an unmatched level of aftermarket support. The only reason I am running the BEW is because I'm after a very quiet swap. The BEW is admittedly quieter and smoother than the ALH, and also has more headroom for my power goals. I'm shooting for a cold 170/305 at the wheels, with full torque at 1,800. ALH can hit those numbers, but will churn out higher EGT's in the process. I'll still probably run meth injection, but I am pretty sure the BEW won't need it unless I'm climbing from 8,000-11,000 feet nonstop.
