What alarm do you run: OEM or Aftermarket (or none)?

Recently made the switch to a 3rd gen 4runner and noticed that my vehicle isn't equipped with an alarm/ security system. Coming from my previous 1st gen Tacoma & 4th gen 4Runner, both vehicles had a factory alarm, therefore, never had to consider adding one.

I'm curious what alarm people tend to run in their 3rd gen, or if they don't care for one at all. Also, what model is being ran and how much did you pay for the set up you are running? Hoping to gather some info to make an educated purchase given I'd like to add one. Thanks!

Avital

Specific model in sig. below. Runner had an original "Gulf Coast States distributor" installed alarm but like many on here it finally failed (kept turning on by itself) after 12 yrs. What i like most about the avital is the remote start and visual feedback of system status on the remote. $110 at frys + 175 to install. Range could be further but i can remote start the vehicle about 300yds away.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like a pretty good setup. During the installation is there any permanent "damage" done to the factory wiring, other than taping into feeds? My only hesitation with aftermarket alarms is damage done that is irreversible. Also, have you had any issues with this model?
