Rock Sliders with a step

Been looking for some sliders for a while to replace the factory steps on my 3rd gen which are falling apart. I need something with a step for the misses and like the look of the FJ style ones or the N-Fab ones for the newer 4runner/tacoma such as this:

I don't really need them to be super beefy rock crushing mega sliders, just functional. does anyone know if these type of sliders are made for the 3rd gen or do I just need to fabricate my own?

AFAIK you'll have to build your own. I have been looking for a set as well.

I use my TG sliders as a step. I see those steps as a low point right behind the front wheels, a good place to get hung up on a rock or ledge. Kind of defeats the purpose of sliders.

All depends on what you'll use your truck for. Me? Mine will probably never see a trail. It's a winter snow rig and that's about it. Maybe he's in the same boat. You make a very valid point though.

I've been thinking along the same lines as well. I'd love to have a set like in the OPs pic, but I want my sliders to slide. Best would be some steps that could fold away when on the trail.

I see where the point is made for low hanging parts but I don't usually run into those problems on the trails down here in florida.

im going to revive this because i found some information that might assist you guys. Im from over on the 5th gen forum BTW.

over on the tacoma world forums someone came up with removable slider steps. those might be something to look into as a step for a slider to do what the Nfabs do but be a slider and removable when you want to do the rockier trails.

just trying to help!

happy trails!

Many people get a kick in their sliders and use that for a step. I did, and I use that, then able to step on the tire to get to my rack. I put strips of that grip strip stuff ( like you put on steps so you don't slip..) on the edges to help short people get in the door.

I have other pics (page two of my build thread mostly) showing how they flow with the truck. I had them made locally but there's many places that can build them for you.

Then why would you want sliders? Get nerf bars.

Just relized this was a revival thread, my bad!

I don't like how the nerf bars look basically.

sliders are a step. put grip tape on top.
sounds like you actually want nerf bars.
the ones you show would function poorly as sliders specifically because of the steps jutting out.

In my situation, I will be wheeling, but during the week, it's the family wagon. Little kids and the short wife will need something a little lower than a tucked up slider to step up, especially after I lift it. The removable taco steps would be a great solution.

Hey man, I saw you've got a 3rd Gen like I do, and you've got some sliders on there that ride clsoe to the body. I've been digging through the site looking for threads and pics of people in our situation, and what they did to get sliders on. I'm ideally hoping to keep from having to do too much cutting of the trim panels, fiancee would kill me if it get's messed up. TIA for any thoughts.
