Did the above mentioned procedure on mine and was very easy. I went a step further and add male and female ends to the wire I snipped. I keep them seperated, but if I ever want to have DRLs again, I just simply plug the two cut wires together.

is there a way to change the daytime running lights from the headlights to the fogs instead so during the day the fogs turn on as daytime running lights?

best way may be to rewire them to a switch that you can turn on and off at your discretion.

For my car, a 2000 runer, take the little compartment underneath the hand brake. Underneath, there is a switch. what you need to do, is you need to loosen off the screw that holds it in and rotate it 90 degrees so that the handbrake no longer hits it. You can not disconnect it becaseu the screw is the ground and the gound is through the chassis.

Just do the fog light rewire and turn them on when you want to.

just out of curiousity...

why would you want to disable them ?
is there a practical reason for that, cause it seems that there is a practical reason to have them on.

so im curious...

When using aftermarket bulbs which are a bit more pricey than the OEM version the DRLs go through them too quick and the reason DRLs are used it's too improve your visibilty fro other drivers but I thinks it's more helpful at dusk and dawn when people whould have their lights on anyway but the government mandated DRLs since there's alot of people that don't know when to turn their lights so they are on all the time now.

A couple reasons why I disabled them:

First, I run PIAA headlight bulbs and I didn't want to shorten their life by running them all the time. 2nd, I drive the freeway A LOT. It's nice to be able to tell oncoming traffic a cop is waiting on them, telling a trucker it's okay to move over in my lane and when someone's doing 60mph in the fast lane, it's nice to be able to flash your lights at them to MOVE OVER. (sorry, this happens to me a lot.) Third, I take trips with others and when a cell phone won't work, it's nice to be able to flash your lights at them to pull over.

drl's dont impede your use of the highbeams...?

im confused?

DRL's do shorten bulb life for a lot of aftermarket bulbs, but I have to say I have had my sylvania silverstars in for coming up on a yr now, I have DRL's and theyre still perfect.

That's true, but for some reason people tend to respond quicker if they see you flicking your lights at them and can see a contrast in light. Meaning, "On, Off, On,Off". With DRLs, there's not that much contrast of light.

Who knows, maybe it's a Southern thing, but people sure can't drive the freeways good at all around here.

On the headlights, I would hope my PIAAs last a year, but I'm wanting them to last a lot longer than that.

If you can go to a company like WalMart and by the really short interchangable screw driver tips. then purchase a 1/4 combination wrench and you can unscrew teh sensor there. THe other way, is to try and find a really stubby phillips screwdriver.

I just unplugged the DRL module under the hood. Took like 5 seconds, and to get them back, I just plug it back in.

Have fun with whatever the hell you guys are doing though!!!
