outside ambient temperature wiring question

I have purchased a 2002 4runner recently after a total loss on my 99 runner which is now my donnor vehicle ... Today I was removing some interior parts and noticed the review mirror has a comp selector button . when i removed it from the windsheild only two wires where connected . after tracing them down under the dash , i noticed the mirror was from another vehicle but did function " to an extent" ... I know it read the direction of travel "N,S,E,W" before I removed battery but didn't read temp . it has a 7 pin plug on back side which I assume if all where connected , it would read all functions properly ?... MY QUESTION IS , can anyone tell me what wires I would need to tap into to read OUTSIDE TEMP ???I would prefer to tap directly into readout on factory thermostat AC control or outside thermometer if possible ...

Is that a factory mirror or the GM upgrade?

I got my wiring section of the FSM from eBay for my 97. The FSM that's being handed around currently is too new for me. But may be just what you need for your 2002

You use the two wires at the other end of the wire plug (according to your picture, the two closest spots near the camera) for the temperature.
You got to use the external temp prove wires to go into the mirror if you want outside temperature.
Since you have the mirror button, I suppose you may not have the temp function. the mirror button simply turns off and on the auto-dimming feature.

I'm really not sure what the mirror came of of but I always assumed it was stock on my other runner before removed it today and noticed the electrical tape where the splice was and the splice connector under the dash ?... Thought it would be a nice addition if I could get it fully functional ! When I hard wire it to the battery it shows a temp display as it is configuring but doesn't have anything to read because the pins are not connected to any wires ... Where is the thermomoter located on the vehicle and maybe I can trace them back to the dash ?
