Rear Window Power in Accessory Power

Hello All
I am wondering if anybody has rewired the switch for the rear window on their 2002 so that it can be operated without the key being in the on position. I am looking for similar functionality to how the door windows can still be rolled up and down once after you turn the car on and remove the key before opening the driver door. Thanks!

Well, not by modifying the existing circuit, I would think. The rear window switch on the dash communicates with the Body ECU which signals up/down control to Back Door ECU over the MPX line which has several functions. It is totally separate from the Power Window circuit except for the ground side, where the Lock Switch operates.

So two multi-function ECU's are involved, and their internal schematics are not available, as far as I know.

If I were to do it, the only way I see is run two new wires from the up and down legs of the dash switch all the way to the back gate and connect them to the respective legs of the key switch. That would give full time control from the dash. You would cut the existing connections to the Body ECU to avoid feedback, especially when the key switch is used.

If you really wanted the interruption after 43 seconds, you could then tap a relay to the 12V+ output of the PWR relay to allow the new relay to cut the ground signal to dash switch when the PWR relay cuts power to the front windows. So, it is possible, but running those two wires will be a minor pain.

Wire diagrams for the Rear Window and the front windows are attached.
