The Big 3 just turned into The Big 7
Toyota 4Runner Big 7 Complete Kit (Gen 3 - 1996-2002)
A fellow 3rdGenner in the 3G4R FB group just posted these. Options for 2GA and 1/0GA.

Not a bad price for what you get there. Especially considering its all premade and crimped to the right length. Seems worth it to me just due to the amount of time to build all of these 7 cables.

Gonna take the other route and say it's entirely unnecessary for 99% of rigs, let alone 99% of 4Runners. Big 3 is already pretty unnecessary with 1 or 1/0 AWG, you'll NEVER ever in 100 years see anything even close to warranting such heavy duty cable - not even if you were running triple winches all at once - and especially so considering these do, what? Upgrade your starter cables and fuse box wiring? Yeah $145 well spent alright, people definitely have loads of problems with those...
And I say that as someone with a Big 3 made from 1/0 welding cable. The saying "just because it's sold doesn't mean you have to buy it" rings familiarly here to me.
To that, personally I think it speaks volumes when people try to sell these kits under the guise of "adding lights" down the road, because these people know very damn well how tiny of a load LEDs impart and how much of a non-issue that is. And if they don't... is that really someone you want to purchase and take advice from?

Hey man, that solid logic hurts! LOL.That said, when I was down there looking at my alt to determine it's original, I did notice my wires are looking bad - crusty, brittle, exposed copper, etc., so my irrational urge to click Buy everywhere may still win.....

Agree that #2 cable is overkill, size-wise. #4 is probably overkill unless winch, HO alternator is involved. IMO, the price is good, considering all the labor saved. It'd be nicer if they used marine grade cable.

The point of the post was sharing an option. THere was a member here at one point that was making and selling Big 3 kits for around the same/similar price point. That is the only point of the post.
Now, regarding gauge, what is reasonable, in your opinion, for a rig with a single battery and stock alternator?
How about if a winch is added?

What's the amp draw of a your winch at MAX load? What's the length of the wire run. With those two things you can actually figure out what gauge wire you need. Run the numbers and let me know what you find. You might be surprised.

I agree that the 20+ year old wiring is probably getting worn out and run down. I’ve thought of starting to replace simple hardware just to keep it up so for me I’m interested in these. Some people may not be, just don’t put a Dana 44 in the front of your rig if you’re putting a 14 bolt in the rear

Screw 1/0. I have some Copper Pipe you can use that will really future proof your rig. Forget powering a winch, with my upgrade you can power a small village.

I run 6/0 Awg wire throughout my entire 4Runner, the ecu connectors are 3’ wide and I’ve converted it to run on 480v 3 phase
