Air filter replaced not long ago. Was planning on doing oil change and spark plugs soon since light came on recently. (Needed time due to the one plug being harder to get to.) Going to do today now that light started flashing. Only the one same code throughout the duration of this.

When was the last time plug and plug wire was changed? Don't push on accelerator so hard the CEL flashes - its trying to tell you the problem is Severe enough to cause damage to the cat converter. Luck!

1. Spark plug/wire
2. Coil
3. Injector
4. Bad compression in the cylinder
5. Bad gas (change the fuel filter)

Start with new plugs and wires pronto.

I have no history of anything prior except timing chain replaced a while back. I bought it a few months ago and this is the first issue.

I was low on gas, filled up, that wasn't it. I read it might be the injectors. I'm trying to go through each thing.
Keep the input coming, please. I'll keep giving feedback as I go. Thank you!

I got them all replaced and back together earlier, fired it up, and it ran a little rough. After reading someone had theirs run great until they turned it off and used it the second time. Hoping for the opposite, I restarted mine during the test run. It's ran great ever since! Thanks for the input.

I had to replace the ignition coil pack to fix the issue. If you haven't done that yet, it should be your next stop.

rather than start a new thread i thought i would post what i have done so far.

I got the codes: P303 and P304 along with P300 (multiple misfires).

I replaced the plugs and wires with NGK. (prev owner had 4 prong bosch plugs and autolite wires).

Cleaned the MAF and the throttle body while i had it apart. I did notice some oil on the rear passenger side plug - i can see it looks like the valve cover gaskets are leaking some.

Checked all 3 coil packs (still marked with toyota label) and they all seemed to be in range with the reader and they don't look burnt or anything.

I started it up and still have a rough idle. I also get the flashing light when i get onto the street and accelerate. So it seems the like those things didn't help.

The prev. owner said he was told the cats are clogged - how do you confirm this?

I noticed it looks like the o2 sensor after the cat is a bosch one (just by comparing pictures).

What would you guys check next?

I had a similar problem a few months ago. PO301 code. Mine would run fine when cold, but if I turned it off and came back 10 minutes later, misfired like crazy.
It turned out to be the injector slowly leaking around a worn ring.
Not too difficult to do and since you're in there it's a good time to do plugs and wires.
Like others have said, if the CEL starts flashing while you're driving, stop. Bad things happen if you keep hammering on with a misfire.
