Frame failure at rear lower control link mount

So It appears that the weld failed on the rear lower control link mount. I am getting it towed home and wondering I should do. I have a welder so I can try to clean up the break and reweld and then add some plate over the top. Or should I just give up on that mount and try to weld in something completely new and go with extended links? I haven't had much luck finding threads with this failure so any links would be helpful.

I'm also not looking forward to removing my gas tank as I'm sure I will be breaking a lot of that rust hardware.

Common rust spot. I would clean the rust up and weld some plates putting the mount back where it should be, or if you want to get fancy just pull the mount off and make a new mount and weld it in. You could try filling it but my guess is there will be a decent gap between the frame and mount once all the rust is removed and cleaned up.
