3rd gen Scangauge II X-gauge programming? (IACV)

Hi All,

Has anyone tinkered with the X-gauge feature on their scangauge IIs for things other than trans temp on the 99+ cars? I wanted to do some troubleshooting on my IAC valve. My brother (who does auto diagnostics for a living) was telling me that there's a way to track a signal from the IACV to basically correlate to its dirtiness. When it's dirty, the signal will pretty much be maxed out, that is, it is trying to be as open as possible to compensate for being so gunked up. I have a bit of a rough idle when the truck is hot and sitting in drive at a light, and especially when the A/C is on. No CEL or anything.

So perhaps more generally, what 'protocol' do the older 96-98 4Runners use? ISO? KWP? PMW? Something Toyota specific?

Thanks!
