complete exhaust systems?

Looking for a complete exhaust system for my 2001 4runner, my stock exhaust is rusted out. Anyone know any other options then the borla cat back for $600?

My cats were bad and the PO did a hack job to get a loud exhaust in. I redid the entire exhaust (2 cats, a walker quiet muffler, and tail pipe) with all the gaskets bolts and new hangers I got for just under 900. I think if I were to do a cat back it would have been around 200 bucks. I ordered all my stuff on amazon and it was all a direct bolt in. Because of the hack job I had to bust out the grinder to get the old muffler out. took about 4 hours to do it all.

I looked up the OEM parts and went to amazon to get aftermarket as OEM is $$$$$$

sounds like a good option, how much did you pay for the cats?

Heres all the big parts and numbers from amazon. This was for a 2002 4runner

Walker 54681 Quiet-Flow Stainless Steel Muffler Assembly $114 :B0049J91H6
Walker 54081 Tail Pipe $67:B000C93E7K
Walker 53616 Ultra EPA Certified Catalytic Converter $177: B001AGN71C (rear Cat)
Walker 52399 Ultra EPA Certified Catalytic Converter $179:B001AGP68Y (front Cat)
Denso 234-9002 Air Fuel Ratio Sensor $86:B000C5YCYS
Denso 234-4261 Oxygen Sensor $51:B0016NBBQW

This doesn't include the gaskets or hangers but they arnt much. Also eastern Carolina makes direct fit cats as well. The are about 20 bucks more expensive. Living in Hawaii they shipped all of this for free. So can't complain. On JC whitney they were about the same price but 700 for shipping

I checked that one out but its listed for 96-98 4runners. Any reason why it wouldn't work with my 2001?

00+ has two cats (cali model). That is a replacement for pre 00 models w/ one cat (federal model).

I can get you a 18" Magnaflow replica muffler for $40. Take that to a muffler shop, have them replace the rusted out piping, weld this in place of your factory muffler and you'll have one sweet system.

I have the JBA and it is unrefined and obnoxiously loud. I installed an Autoparts International system on not-as-nice 96' for like $150 and it sounds way sportier and noticeable without sounding like a pain in the ass Harley rider. Did I mention the Autoparts International has a lifetime warranty? The JBA doesn't. The only advantages to the JBA are that it is stainless steel and that is has an exhaust tip that is placed perfectly. Otherwise, I HATE it.

I was really concerned about being obnoxious as well but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I really don't mind it. Most trucks around here are much louder and annoying than mine. Gas mileage got a little better and definitely breathing better. To each their own.

Loud trucks must be more common in NE. Gas mileage and power are a bit better. Then again, I was replacing the original piece with holes and cracks. I would say the difference is negligible, since the one with the Autoparts exhaust gets the same mileage. It is a tad slower, but that is because it is heavier.

Did I mention the drone at 70-80 MPH? I thought I was going to go deaf. The pipes are good but I'm ditching that dinky muffler for a Walker universal soon.
