Tell me what you think of my parts list for Tundra brake upgrade

I don't have a ton of money to go with OEM parts. We are talking more than double the price for OEM brakes brand new.

So, I went to partsgeek.com and put a cart together:
A1 Cardone Calipers $56 ($80 core) X2
EBC Greenstuff 6000 Series $49.95
EBC USR Sport Slotted Rotors $159.05
Total after core refund and shipping: ~$345

These are all 13WL size parts.
Your thoughts? Questions? Concerns?

My only worry is I have 16 inch wheels and I saw one guy having to grind the back of his wheel to get them to fit. Will I have this problem?

I had to add a 1/4 spacer and swap to et lug nuts with my after market wheels, but I only had very minor rubbing of the caliper on the wheel, had they not been new wheels, I woulda probably grinded on them a bit.
Depends on your wheels tho, some stocks will fit, and I think there is a thread here that gives some insight to the wheels that will work without any trouble.
Oh, have some tin snips handy, you'll have to trim the dust shields. Worked great for me. Good luck.

Grind the calipers if necessary, not the wheel

No, there's not. There's a fluid passage there and if you don't grind into it you're going to be close. Don't half ass your brakes. If you can't afford to do the job right just spend some money on good pads and rotors and keep what you have.

If you do decide to go forward with you might as well buy OEM rotors. They're no more expensive than what you have listed and they're going almost certainly be better quality.

I was quoted about $700 from the dealership.
My parts list is about $340.....that is quite a bit more.
This is a new to me 4runner that my wife uses as a DD. The rotors are completely shot....I think OEM are out of my price range. And I don't think it's worth it.

Don't waste your time with your local dealer. They'll rape you. The OEM rotors are about $60 each at any of the online Toyota parts sellers. I just did this a couple of months ago.

Calipers on that site are 296.00 per side. Ha...no thanks, I think the ones I have will do just fine.

That'd be me. It wasn't that bad really. If you have the 5 spoke wheels you don't have to do anything, if you have the 6 spoke then you'll just need to grind off about 1/8 in material off the high point on the back of the wheels.

P.S. you can get OEM rotors from Toyota of Dallas for $57 each.

No, not the caliper. Some guy tried that on the forums here and his calipers sprung a leak where he took off material.

I didn't say anything about the calipers. I said ROTORS. If you're going to ask for advice at least take the time to read what people are telling you.

A lot of the aftermarket rotors are Chinese junk with inconsistent quality.

Back on topic...

I just did this upgrade and started with EBC Greenstuff 6000 Series pads. Before install I returned them and bought EBC Greenstuff 7000 Series pads instead. 7000 series is a bit more aggressive pad for SUVs and it's supposed to have less dust. With that being said, I haven't driven the 4Runner yet so I don't have any personal experience.

Also, I've had luck with AutoAnything.com for good pricing on a wide range of brake parts. The 7000 Series is difficult to find on their website, but here's a link (Part # DP71657)
http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/77A3376A2351535.aspx
If you have the cash, throw in a set of stainless braided brake lines and some decent brake fluid.

Speed bleeaders, they're worth the few bucks a caliper.

If you dont have money to do it than like some others said just do your pads and rotors with good parts.

You will end up spending more money in long run with fast wearing pads and warping rotors.

Best option is Napa Eclipse Calipers, OEM rotors (cheap), and OEM expensive pads/shims (kind of pricey). OEM sells two types of pads. The originals and repalcements. The replacements leave lots of dust and wear out really fast.

This is exactly what I did. Honestly it was one of the best and most noticeable upgrades I have done on this truck. Stopping distance greatly reduced, and you don't have to worry about the rotors warping.

I appreciate the input. I really do. I was mainly looking to see if anyone had anything negative or positive to say about EBC rotors and pads in particular.

I can get the 7000 series at partsgeek they are available. I am aware that OEM is a good way to go....but I have faith that EBC is just as good or better.
I'll get a price today when I go pick up oil filters.

I am not convinced that a used OEM caliper with upwards of 100k miles (most likely) is better than a reputable aftermarket remanufactured caliper.
I'm not about to pay $600 just in calipers for new OEM either. That is just asinine. That's over 10% of the vehicles value (almost 25%) and they are already overengineered for this vehicle anyways.
