How can I disable the factory security/starter disable?

I have a 2000 Limited. About 50% of the time when I try to start it the security light on the dash flashes and all it will do is continue to crank over but not start. Usually if I turn the ignition off, take the key out, then put it back in it will start. Every once in a while I have to do this a couple times.

I would prefer to just disable/remove the factory security and/or starter kill. I don't care if I lose the factory keyless entry because I don't have key fobs anyway.

Thanks for any help!

Have you had your battery tested? Also check into the starter. That has nothing to do with the security system, the immobilizer is in the computer and in your key. You are having separate issues from that

I haven't had the batter tested but it's only a year old and it cranks over great. The reason I think this is related to the security system is that when ever it won't start the security light on the dash blinks while I'm cranking it over. But if the light doesn't flash, it starts. I've gotten tot the point that I know as soon as I start cranking it over whether or not it's gonna start simply by looking at the security light. If it's flashing I know that I need to stop, remove the key, and try again.

To my knowledge you cant disable the security. I have never heard of a factory key going faulty even after all these years. The immobilizer is tied into your key, ignition, and your ECU. maybe @BlackWorksInc can shed knowledge on disabling security.

He mentioned the security light on the dash, it would blink and not allow the truck to start. I believe he is talking about the factory alarm system, not the RFI chip in the key. Now I don't have a factory installed alarm, but didn't they install the box under the driver seat? Isn't that how you know if you have one or not?

I recently just disconnected my alarm. It was causing me all sorts of troubles. Try looking for it in the dash underneath your steering wheel, you will need to remove the dash panel. Another place they are is underneath the seat. It's as simple as unplugging the damned thing
