Horse Power concepts.

The new standard being Hp per liter as a measurement of Volumetric efficiency.

I figured I would pull this over to a mew thread instead of tacking it onto an old one. These are new standards about observable power liter correlations not some definable algebraic equation.

Introducing the 5 stroke Gas engine.

Horse Power concepts.

Damn. That's incredible. Mind blown is right! That FreeValve technology is so simple, yet so innovative Horse Power concepts.

Well, they do admit that their gas-burning five-stroke engines will not match the efficiency and low emission levels of VW’s diesel engines; those cannot be beat!

Could anyone imagine a 5.7l with freevalve running 240 hp per liter VE? Just the 165 hp per liter non turbo is freaking ridiculous at 940hp. 1368hp from a 5.7 shit is changing. Now what do you think of the new Hellcat?

Oh wow yay...just what I've been dreaming of — yet another new "thing" to make my 20 year old engine seem even more archaic, punny and inefficient.

Huge power is so 1995. These days you can probably buy a 12 second minivan from the factory and then an electric car that makes it look slow. What's the point?

It's over guys. Time to come up with a new yardstick. I think the cool "hot rods" of the next 20 years will either be radically custom, or perhaps various examples of electric retrofit on something classic. Bragging rights will come with range, rather than power output.

In the early 80's they tried to convince us power was passe, mileage was the new standard.

Adrenalin is hard to beat, and shutting down cylinders is so 80's Cadillac.

Of course I don't want a 12 second minivan either, but power won't be out of fashion in my lifetime.

Not saying power won't be out of fashion, but we've long passed the point of diminishing returns. My newest car is 16 years old and I can't run wide open for more than a few seconds at a time. I've never had it to top speed. So what does double the power get me?

Here's one from 10 years ago that already could do it in mid 13s

Long story short the Head math in our engines have been pushing the so called American engines to catch up. From the 3.4 on there is much more power to be had if you understand the math and without loosing reliability.
